I need to replace the belts on my Kenmore Washing Machine Model # 20432. I see that the back doesnt unscrew like the older Kenmore Washing Machines.

Thanks for the info on belt replacement om my kenmore washing machine 110.20432990.

I thought it was a belt making noise but since it doesnt have a belt and uses a coupler I have a different question. The washer works great, it fills, agitates, pumps the water out, spins, refills for the rince cycle then pumps out the water and spins. The problem is that the agitation cycle is noisy like something banging. Thats the only time the noise is present. The only other problem maybe?? is if I put in a large load like a large quilt and blanket it wont start spinning on its own, I have to give it a push then it spins like normal. With a normal load of clothes it works fine except for the noise. I got the washing machine from my mom after she passed away. It was never hooked up, it was still in the box. She had it for about a year and then Ive had it for the last 3 years still in the box. Just hooked it up yesterday.

This model washer doesn't have any drive belts. It uses a motor coupling in place of a drive belt. If you need to replace the coupler, the following link explains how to do this:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385250-replacing_motor_coupling_kenmore_top

You have to remove the entire washing machine case to access the interior. The back does not come off. Its not as intimidating as it sounds, though. The part number is included in the link I provided and can be purchased at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. Just use the "Search By Part Number" feature. If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

That sounds like the spin basket drive if you have to help it spin, the agitation cycle is probably gears inside the agitator called agit dogs, for more info call whirlpoolpartssurplus.com

Whcandy washing machine grand go f 662 stops mid cycle and the cold wash light flashes and the softener isnt usedat's your problem?

Hello.

Washing machines, like any other mechanical device, occasionally needs servicing. A common problem with an older washing machine is that the spinner, or agitator, drain,or stops rotating during wash cycles. Fortunately, most washing machine problems are easy to troubleshoot. Any do-it-your self offer can fix it; here's how.

TOOLS NEEDED TO SOLVE PROBLEM ARE BELOW.

Bucket and rags,Screwdriver,
New drive belt (if necessary),
New drive motor (if necessary).

1 Unplug the washing machine, and turn off the water supply to the machine. If necessary, remove the water hoses from the back of the washing machine because they may be in the way of the access panel.

2 Check that the agitator is seated correctly by opening the lid of the washing machine. If it's loose, pop off the top of the agitator--if there is one--and tighten the bolt that holds the agitator in place. Or, in some models, simply pull straight up and then reseat the agitator.

3 Remove the access panel located in the back of the washing machine by unscrewing the screws holding it in place. This allows access to the drive motor.

4 Press on the drive belt that works the agitator. If the belt moves more than 3/4 inch, tighten the belt to fix the spinner problem. If the belt is worn or cracked, replace the belt.

5 Replace the drive motor, if tightening or replacing the drive belt doesn't fix the agitator. Purchase a new drive motor at a wholesale retailer. Disconnect wiring, remove screws holding motor in place and insert new motor. Screw into place, and connect wiring.

6 Check for any black substance leaking under the washing machine. This might indicate a clutch problem, if the washing machine spinner is not working. Contact a professional repairman to replace the clutch.

Thanks.

Kenmore model 110.24642300. Basket/drum doesn't spin, though it sounds as if the motor itself is working fine. It isn't the latch on the lid. I think there's a belt or clutch issue inside. ...

Hi

One of the most common problems with washing machines, however, is that they won't spin. Usually this is caused by an issue that easily can be fixed, but other times it can be more serious. In some cases, just the balance of the load can cause the machine not to spin.
First open the lid and reposition the clothes. Close the lid and retry. The washer may not spin at all if the tub is unbalanced.

Examine the lid switch for wear. Replace a worn lid switch by first using a screwdriver to remove the top of the machine. Remove the cabinet holding the old switch in place by unscrewing the two console screws, tilting the console back, removing cabinet clips, and unlocking the lid switch block. Unscrew the mounting screws, and disconnect the ground wires before removing the old switch. Insert the new switch in it's place.

Look for excessive glazing or cracks on the sides of the belt. If these signs appear, remove the old belt by tipping the washing machine over on it's side, and unscrew the clamps securing the pump coupling with a screwdriver. Place the new belt over the transmission pulley, and then over the motor pulley's nearest edge, slowly turning the motor pulley to pull the belt around and into the pulley.

Replace the washer's motor by firmly grasping on the metal slip-on connectors holding the wires in place, allowing you to pull the connectors apart. Use a screwdriver to unscrew all of the screws holding the motor in place, and remove the old motor. Insert the new motor in its place. Secure the new motor to the machine with screws, and reconnect the motor's wiring harness.

Replace the washer's pump by removing the service panel on the back of the machine with a screwdriver and disconnecting the washing machine drain line and the rubber pump outlet hose. Remove the fasteners holding the pump to the bottom of the machine, along with the drive belt from the pulley below the pump. Replace the old pump with a new one, and reinstall the drive belt back on the pulley, reinsert the fasteners and reconnect the rubber pump inlet and discharge lines.

I need to replace the belt on my Miele washing machine. Can you tell me how to do it?

Open the washing machine's back access panel.Depending on the make and model of your washing machine, you may need a screwdriver to unscrew the screws that hold the panel up.Locate the washing machine's drive belt.It will be in clear view, detach the old drive belt.Use the screwdriver to unscrew the pump coupling. Then gently slide the old belt off of the drive belt notch. If the belt is broken,be careful not to leave any pieces in the washing machine's interior. Slide the new washing machine drive belt over the drive belt pulley in the machine.Carefully stretch the belt up and over the second pulley before releasing.Use the screwdriver to re-attach the pump coupling.Test the drive belt's tension. If it is looser, tighten the pulleys to increase the belt's tension.Replace the access panel and resume using your washing machine.

The belt fell off my kenmore fl washer, how do I replace it?

The question is why did the belt come off? this is unusual.

The belt does not have a tensioner the motor does this. you will need to loosen motor and then apply belt tension. Typical belt tension is 70lbs.

While you have the machine open make sure the driven pulley is tight, and doesnt wiggle or move you may have bearing problems.

How does the belt look, frayed or ripped you could have a bad belt unlikely but this could have been original problem, however check machine out first.

Belt on my kenmore 70 series washing machine

Your washer should be a direct drive unit, it has no belt. If you hear the motor running but nothing is happening you probably have a broken motor coupler. The coupler is about $10.

Pop off the trim pieces on each end of the console.
Remove the two screws that hold the console to the cabinet and flip the console back.
Remove the two clips that hold the cabinet to the rear panel of the washer and unplug the lid switch harness. The cabinet will tilt forward and slide off.
Remove the clips holding the water pump and move it to the side.
Unplug the wires from the motor and remove the clips holding it.
You will see the motor coupler.
Make sure you can turn the gearcase shaft with a pair of pliers so it is not locked up.
Post back and let me know what you find or if you need any help.
