change the drive belt. evidently the belt has stretched to the point the belt tensioning device can no longer do its job. when you change the belt make a diagram of which way the belt is reaved through the tensioning device. if you don't you'll be back here asking how to arrange the belt.

SOURCE: Burn marks on clothing

The front felt drum seal may be bad. It is attached to the front panel, around the door.
Check and or replace the rear drum support it has worn down the ball and cup support. It will soon begin making a grinding/squealing noise.
When it wears and drops down the gap is greater at the front around the felt seal. Laundry gets caught in the gap and scorches.

Have you checked the belt? That's generally the problem when a dryer stops spinning.

Check the door switch. If the plunger is stuck, the dryer keeps running.

SOURCE: fisher and paykel clothes dryer wont turn with clothes in it.

Hi
Most dryers work with a belt around the drum. Either the belt is stretched and needs replacement or there may be a belt tensioner which needs adjustment to tighten the belt.
What is happening in your case is that the belt is slipping on the drum as it is too loose.
Best wishes,

The door wont open

If it is digital which most new models are, you will see that after a spin cycle is completed it will take just a few minutes or so to release the safety, or some models you can go ahead and push the stop button and it will release

Dryer wont tumble when loaded.

check for a "glazed" drum belt or a broken "idler" pulley near or on the motor that keeps the belt tight on the drum

Sounds like the drum is not turning under heavy load.this is a common problem with dryers but usually easily remedied if a competent diyer. first check the theory by putting in big load and see if drum turns. if not then replacing capacator should cure it.

Not rinsing or draining properly

Hello Kate,
Chances are the drain system ( filter, hoses, pump or your house drain ) is restricting water flow out of the washer..Try using 1/3 to 1/4 of the detergent you normally use for a while ( it must be HE grade and not std because Std will suds up way too much). Clean the filter and run a few wash loads with only a few items in there.. You can stop midway thru and add a cup or two of white vinegar to clean the inner works of deposits.. run a few wash loads like that .,. then from now on..use HE detergent, and only a very small amount. DO NOT FILL THE DISPENSER TO THE FULL LINE.. Hope this helps.. Please get back to me if you've tried these things and you are still having a problem,..
