How do i install and replace my disc player on my tower system?
This is very easy to do, all you need is a philips screwdriver. Depending on if you have an OEM system (i.e., one from Dell, HP, etc) they might have some type of lever to open the case or a custom system which will use screws to hold on the side panels. If OEM, check your manuals or the manufacture's website. If custom, remove the screws from the back panel and remove the case side panels.
Before you begin taking the drive out, touch an unpainted metal part of the case to discharge any static electricity, this will prevent ESD damage to the components of the computer if you do accidentally bump them. Look for the existing DVD drive and remove the screws holding it. Then remove the cables from the back of the drive.
Install the new drive, replace the cables, install the screws, put the side panels back on and power the machine up. Your system should recognize the new drive and you are set.
