Before you rip that baby apart (I couldn't find a manual for you) Give this a try...it is as much as I could glean about your FreeAgent320:
With model #ST303204da1e1-rk running Vista, window says it is installing the drivers. It should bring up the Explorer window showing the drive was recognized. Sometime the software window for the device will not open. Disconnect, reconnect, reboot. The software is in the device and should install.
Note: IF you can not get the software to auto launch, then go the drive letter for the external drive and click there.

I had similar issues with a Seagate external and was able to access the data and recover it using Seagate File Recovery software without having to crack open the case (plus it had tamper proof screws). That link will let you download a trial version which should help you determine if the data is accessible and then you can decide whether the $129 (manuf. recommended price) for the full software package is worth it. In my case the drive had the exact symptoms yours does and I popped the data off of it in under 15 minutes...best of luck to you.

Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I stepped on my Iomega external memory and went to PC world for data recovery, they can't do it?could you help?

take the drive out of the case and try this cable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812123312

If the internal drive is physically damaged (if it wont power on or spin) then you will need to use a data recovery service that can pull the drive apart and recover the data directly from the platters. Note: These services are expensive.

I used the LG smart recovery and backed up my files by clicking system back-up. Then after it changed my files that will open only to window shell commor.? Any idea how to open again my files I badly need...

Hi there,
So did you mean you performed a system restore after you back up your system? If so,you can try a data recovery software to recover your files.I have succeed to recover files after system restore with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data.
Anyway, you can download a trial version and scan your hard drive for free to check out whether your files can be recovered.http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm

When i open my laptop, then boot, it goes to this windows 98 startup menu which has following options: reboot to windows xp, recover windows xp w/ full hd, recover xp w/ 2 partitions, and recover xp w/ 1...

first, recover your files. You will need to use something like this data recovery program.
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

I've had to use it many times in the past but in this case you need to plug that drive into another system as an external drive or slave drive and run the software from there. It will rebuild the drive and hopefully recover the files.

After you get back your files, you can then format the drive and reinstall your system.

You may try this data recovery which helped me before. You can download trial for free
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

Please be noted that your mp3 memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.

Lost my DS-40 audio files after upload. Can I recover them?

you can use card recovery software that helped me before
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
4. Install and open the data recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Next' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted files.

You may try some recovery software to rescue the files on your MP2 player, here are some for your option.
Photo Video Music Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Video Music Recovery for Mac

Both programs can also recover video and music. Note: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the player in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.
