We just replace our ge dryer heating coil and approx 1 month later it blew out again and the dryer does not heat. Also the drum turns but has a loud squeak and the timer knob does not advance. Any suggestions as what could be the culprit? Thanks for your help

Hi, Did you get a restring kit for the element or did you get element and housing complete? If you just got the restring kit, the element might have sagged and shorted out. The squeek in the drum could be the rear bearing. You probably seen that on the drum shaft when you replaced the element. The timer problem might be, if you use the auromatic cycle, it will not advance if the element doesn't get hot.
Hope this is sme help.

Continues to blow the high temp stat. I clean the blower and replaced the venting. I also replaced the heating coil the dryer heats up for a load and then it stopss heating. I test the high temp stat

DRYER OVERHEATING:

Heating Element
A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Other Causes and Conditions
Air Flow Problem
Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat
Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.

Felt Seal
Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel
A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

Dcvh660ghbb dryer wont heat

First check to see that the exhaust venting line is clear (not full of lint) as well as the path in the dryer to the line. This is the most common cause of no heat.
Second set the knob to heat turn on dryer with the lights off and the door open but the "open door" switch so that it still rotates with the door open. Look at the back of the rotating drum for a orange/red glow behind the drum (the heater coils). If there is no glow the heater coils are probably broken.
As the dryers age, the amount of thermal cycles the heater elements go through until the point when the coil wire breaks. There usually two heater coils behind the rotating drum (one hotter than the other and when combined the hottest heat temperature setting. You will need to pop open the top where you see the belt that turns the drum. The belt is removed from the spring loaded tensioner pulley at the base of the dryer. Then you can lift the drum out to get to the heater coils. Since no heat, both should be broken and will require replacement.

No high heat in dryer

This type of dryer has 2 rows of elements. If one is out then you will not have high heat.

Basically to get into ge dryers your start by popping the top then removing the front. Then the drum comes out.

My dryer is running, but doesn't have heat.

All electric dryers use 220-240 volts of electricity to run. The elements that make the heat are what actually need the 220 volts, the motor that turns the drum only uses 110. If you have a fused service disconnect box, replace both fuses, as one side is gone. 220/240 is made up of two 110/120 lines coming in, if one fuse, one side, blows, then all that's left is the 110/120 needed to run the drum motor, but no 220/240 to run the heat element. If there is no service disconnect then check the breaker than runs the dryer, flip it off and then back on to see if that makes any difference. Sometimes it will. Then there's the possibility that the hi-limit thermostat on the heat chamber in the machine blew, letting the drum run, but not feeding the coils. If you're not real handy with tools you may want to call a repair tech for this one.

How to replace ge dryer heating element

you will need to remove the drum for this one.  once it is out, the element is mounted on the back of the unit.  not a hard repair, just lay out the parts as you take it apart to give you some order as you re-assemble it.

Very loud squeaking noise - like a noisy loose fan belt on a car.

The dryer needs to be rebuilt, new drum belt and drum rollers to cure this problem.

New GE Profile Dryer makes intermittent loud squeeking or rubbing

Your drum may be out of round. The drum belt on the outside of the drum may be rubbing against the cabinet. When the cabinet heats up, the side walls of the cabinet may be bowing inward, thus making contact with the belt on the drum. This would explain why it is intermittant. When the heater turns off, the cabinet cools and the sides bow back out.

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim.
