SOURCE: westinghouse 47" hd lcd 1080p

It does not need to be a blown speaker to be causing the problem. The issue (unless you have a habit of running the TV at maximum volume) is more then likely in the audio circuit of the TV.
Since it is only 6 months old, I would be straight onto Westinghouse to have it repaired under warranty.

SOURCE: want to change my sharp hd tv from 480i to 1080p

You Can Not Change. The TV Recognize the signal on the INPUT.
If the signal is 480i than the tv shows 480i
If the signal is 1080p than the tv shows 1080p (if supported)
If you try with your areal antenna (for now digital broadcast is maximum 1080i (in USA) The TV itself doesnt "upconvert" lower resolution signals.

Colour keeps going green all across picture

Going "Green" with HDTV In addition to considering screen size, TV type, and available features also consider ways to conserve energy. Below are a few energy consumption tips for your HDTV:
Turn the TV off when not in use.
Turn on the power-saver mode
Many TVs these days come with a power-saver mode that's designed to cut down the power consumption. Performance of this mode varies from model to model, with the effect sometimes being drastic and other times providing only a slight savings. The only downside is that the power-saver mode usually makes the TV less bright, but we've found that sometimes this has a beneficial effect on the image quality, especially with the room lights turned off, in which case it's a win-win situation.
Turn down the LCD's backlight
Many LCDs give you the ability to control the intensity of the backlight in the TV. By turning down the backlight, you'll lower power consumption, but also make the television less bright. While retail stores love to turn the backlights up all the way for their displays, we find that we get the best image quality when we turn down the backlight significantly.
Control room lighting
Reduction in the intensity of the backlight is going to make the TV less bright, but that can be compensated by controlling the light in your home theater room. While this may be a little overboard just for power consumption, limiting the light in your home theater also goes a long way toward creating the "theater" experience, as well as getting the most out of your TV.
And beyond TV concerns, good-quality blackout shades offer thermal benefits that keep other energy costs low; they keep heat in during the winter and keep it out during the summer.
Watch TV together
Having multiple televisions in a house is more of a norm than a luxury these days, but that also means your power consumption is going to increase as well. You can cut that power consumption by watching with your family or housemates. You might need to make a few compromises on what you watch, but sometimes it's more fun to watch with friends and family.
Don't forget to properly recycle your old model
If donating or repurposing your old TV is not a viable option, CNET encourages households to recycle their electronics. Please explore the following websites to find a recycling center in your area Electronics Take Back Coalition or Earth 911.
HDTV source resolutions There are two main HD resolutions in use today by HD broadcasters and other sources: 1080i and 720p. One is not necessarily better than the other; 1080i has more lines and pixels, but 720p is a progressive-scan format that should deliver a smoother image that stays sharper during motion. Another format is also becoming better known: 1080p, which combines the superior resolution of 1080i with the progressive-scan smoothness of 720p. True 1080p content is extremely scarce, however, and none of the major networks have announced 1080p broadcasts. The term 1080p today appears mostly in reference to the displays' native resolution, not the source.

Trying to use ps3, even after using hdmi cable on input 6 or 7, it says check your device output and i see green lines on my screen?

hi
There maybe some problem with your TVs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd high resolution video(1080p) through its HDMI. May be your TV is not supporting that resolution. Connect ps3's component video out to your TV's component video input and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or 1080i, above that resolution your TV will not support. Your tv is hd ready one, not full hd. ps3 's HDMI out is full hd (1080p).
or try this
Connect your ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ps3. change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to your TV via HDMI. surly u will get the video.
ok

How does it help to have a Full HD LCD TV?

Hi - welcome to Fixya,

There is no advantage in buying a Full HD (1080p) TV if you are only using it for watching TV. Currently, there are no Full HD television broadcasts and there are no plans to introduce any. All UK HD channels currently broadcast in 720p resolution whether they are on Sky, Freeview, or Freesat. Therefore, any TV that is described as 'HD ready' rather than 'Full HD' will display all HD channels at maximum quality or resolution.

The advantage of Full HD is when using them with Blu-ray DVD players, gaming systems, e.g. Sony Playstation, or for playback of media files from your PC. These systems output at 1080p / Full HD (but only when connected with an HDMi cable) and you would need a full HD TV in order to get the best quality / resolution from these systems. However, you don't need a Full HD TV to connect these devices as they can all display their output on a 720p HD Ready TV.

The main disadvantage of any HDTV (1080 or 720) is when watching standard definition (SD) broadcasts. Full HD TVs have 1080 horizontal display lines, but SD broadcasts only have 540 horizontal lines. When watching SD channels on an HD TV, the other 540 lines, i,e half of the picture, are being created by software within the TV - known as 'Upscaling'. Upscaling requires processing by the TV which takes time and fast motion can seem blurred or blocky/pixellated as a result. Higher end TVs have faster response times (0.5ms or less) which minimises the pixellation so this specification is important when selecting an HD TV for purchase.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

I have a Sony bravia 32" (KLV-32T400A) and have just bought an xbox.. On trying to connect it using the HDMI input an error comes up saying that it's not a supported signal. I also tried plugging my laptop...

All hd-ready tv's only support max 1080i and not 1080p. The default setting on the Xbox is 1080p, that's why you get that message. There is a way to fix this, just follow the steps below:

Connect TV and X box via HDMI cable with units switched off.

Switch both units on.

  1. Press the right arrow 7 times (Left top jog knob on game controller)

  2. Press "A" button 4 times (Green button)

  3. Press "up" arrow once to set to 1080i

  4. Press "up" arrow once again to set to 720p.

  5. Press "A" to store setting

Do i have to upgrade my lcd tv from hd ready to full hd to play my ps3 through the hdmi cable

No, HD Ready means it's capable of at least 720p. Full HD means it can do 1080p. The PS3 is capable of both, and obviously there is a better picture at 1080p. But if you sit back 10 feet or more from the TV most folks can't tell the difference between the two.
