Question about Brother XL-3500
I like the price of the SE 350, however, our local dealer is telling me that the unit is made of plastic gears and it won't last long. His suggestion is to buy a more expensive unit which is more that twice the price of the Brother 350. The other unit is the Brother Innovis 900D. Which do you recommend?
Hi, For the most part, any machine that has plastic gears is doomed at a chance for long life because if the gears break and can not be replaced, they don't glue together well. But I have machines that have both metal and plastic gears and the are still going after 10 + years. If you love to sew and take care of the machine, they will reward you with a longer life than expected. It sounds like the dealer just wants you to spend more money. Buy what you are comfortable with don't let them try to sell you something you won't like afterwards.
