Question about Eliminator-Series Fuel Pump EFI or Carbureted applications
"Black" exhaust smoke means unburned fuel, meaning one or more fuel injector is not properly atomizing the fuel. The fuel injector sprays a fine mist into combustion chamber. When fuel injector is clogged or has deposit build up on the tip, the fuel dribbles into large droplets instead of a fine mist, which results in poor combustion and black exhaust smoke. After you replace the faulty fuel injector, ALWAYS pour one bottle of "fuel injector cleaner" once a month when topping off your fuel tank. Normally, a bottle of fuel injector will treat 20 gallons, but it doesn't hurt fuel injectors if you mix with less than 20 gallons to increase cleaning solvent concentration to keep fuel injector nozzles clean.
