I have a pioneer Pro 200 and have had it for a dozen years. I have an HD in my office and the picture is so good and bright on the Pioneer I just cannot bring myself to get rid of it. The TV blinks off...

Im going to guess that if you try turning it on, sometimes you hear a "click" and nothing then the problem persists over and over until it finally turns on? If so, it's a problem with the power that "jumpstarts" the screen. Worn out capacitors on older models don't hold the necessary charge it takes to "start" the inverter that powers the screen. Once those start to go, it's usually bye bye for the tv. That is IF this is your problem. Let me know. Sometimes it makes hissing or cracking noises along with it. hope this helps!

Hey dudes...even i hav had the same problem that too with the same model specified here..Its a problem actually concerned with the power circuit boards of the tv. Its best to get it checked by an authorized technician. For me I had to replace a transistor on one of the boards. But after that my tv came up with a new problem....the colours appear like rainbows! Could nyone xplain y dis is happening?

Pioneer SD-P6091 Projection TV - TV turns off by itself

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Power cuts off Pioneer SD-P50A5-K about 9 years old

Probably started as a bad solder connection but if it's blowing fuse FU106 now, you're probably in for a new set as that usually means your convergence IC's are bad along with a pair of darlington transistors that's mounted to the heatsink nearby. With the age of the set it may not be worth the trouble. If no fuses are blowing, you could still have a bad solder connection near the Switched Mode Power supply transformer. If that isn't it, you could have a bad High Voltage Block and you may end up having to replace the deflection board as well thank you Pioneer.
