FPD1930 gateway monitor powers up then a small box saying power save mode appears then it just goes black what's wrong with it

Hi. power save mode being displayed by the monitor could be caused by 3 things.
1)VGA cable to monitor is unplugged - check connections at computer and monitor
2)video card has been partially dislodged from motherboard socket. -remove computer cover and ensure video card is firmly pushed down into motherboard socket - do not use excessive force.
3)Monitor does not support video settings on the computer. - to fix on PC, turn on computer and press F8 button a few times during bootup - Windows will go to bootup screen - select SAFE MODE and hit enter. follow onscreen instructions - dont worry about weird colours and huge desktop icons - this is simply to get you going. Right click on desktop, select PROPERTIES>SETTINGS TAB. select screen resolution 1024*768 0r lower, select Apply or Ok. Now restart your machine

LG LCD Monitor won't exit Power Saving Mode

Does your desktop/PC display show anything before the monitor goes into power save mode? If nothing comes up, its possible that you have a loose VGA connection or that your video card/motherboard are defective in some ways. Try using a different monitor.

If the other monitor works fine with your computer, try changing/lowering the screen resolution. If in XP right-click on the desktop and go to Properties, and select the tab for display settings and adjust the resolution. If in Vista/Win7, right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution/Display Settings and adjust it there. Then check and see if your LG monitor works on it.

If the other monitor also doesn't show any display, most likely the problem is either with your video cable or your PCs video card/motherboard, not the monitor.

Hope that helps. Good luck

LG Flatron L177WSB-how would I use my newly purchased unit after switching it on, LG logo appears followed by the Power Saving Mode it all goes black on the screen.

Hi, the Power Saving Mode, turns the screen off to conserve energy. On the remote, press Menu, and scan to Power Saving Mode. You can change the amount of time, when the Screen turn-off, the TV shut-off etc. You can set the time to (5 min) to, (never, turn-off). This should help with your problem. Thanks paul7of9

My gateway monitor shows a picture for about 1 second then turns to blacked out screen with power light still on. I can shut the power off on the monitor then turn it back on only to have it do the same...

Your power settings may need to be changed, it appears to be going into sleep mode or power saving mode.

If you are using Vista, Click Start> Control Panel > Power Options > "choose when to turn off display" (in the left hand pane) and check that it says at least 10 minutes. Click apply and then ok.

Alternatively, right click on your desktop, select "personalise" and click on screen saver - then select "change power settings" to bring you to the same thing.

If you have xp, right click on your desktop and select "properties" then "screensaver| > "Power" and change it to turn off the monitor after 10 minutes. Click apply then ok.

If your monitor is going to sleep, either press a key or wiggle the mouse to wake it up.

Hope that helps.

Analog Power Saving Mode Problem!

Have you checked you power saving options in Control panel.
If this is a desktop, unless you are a energy miser, I would change your power saving options to never on all options, turn off hibernation and suspension for when you are playing games.
You can find this in control panel under power Options.
Let me know if this helps.
Thank you

Screen Keeps turning off after about 1 second. I turn it on and can see the desktop for about a second then the screen shuts itself off. turn it on and it keeps going everysecond or two..tried...

willie114, You have typical problem of lcd monitor failure. There is only one further test you can do. Reconnect H170L to an already fully booted pc with WIN-Desktop showing. then and only then turn on H170L. As soon as screen goes to BLACK, shine bright flashlight 1 -2 inches from screen at different angles. You may or may not see the desktop screen even though the screen is black. If desktop can be seen it only means that the power supply is still powering up the digital lcd driver board. The problem is that your long, thin, Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent-Tubes are not lighting up due to a problem with the Inverter Supply that feeds AC to power the lamps. The inverter gets DC from the Switch-Mode-Power-Supply. The technology your are dealing with is similar to the new energy saving curlieQ screw-in replacement light bulbs. Only your tubes are straight and hung left to right horizontally in back of the lcd and their power source is a bit simpler and called a converter. AC to AC. Get back to me and I will let you know of your options as a consumer/user whose screen has gone to BLACK. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ Bye for now

Monitor shuts off during boot. Let the machine boot full up, hit the power button, the monitor flashes windows for a split second, and goes back to power saving mode

Hey there Celius,

Chances are the 'Refresh Rate' somehow got set too high for the monitor. On flatscreens , the result is a black screen.

If you have an old monitor (crt type) hook that up temporarily and reboot.
  • Right Click the Desktop
  • Click Properties
  • Click Settings
  • Click Advanced
  • Click Monitor
  • Lower the refresh rate or set at optimal
  • Check the box 'Hide refresh rates this monitor can't display'
Shutdown, Switch back monitors and try it now.

Good luck

My desktop pc has gone into power save mode

Turn the whole pc off then back on. If the LCD stays in power save then I would try a diffrent monitor on the PC. If that fixes it the the monitor is probably stuck in power save. Check for parts and instructions.
