SOURCE: The switch on my AC/DC

Depending on what exactly is broken (it may just be a set screw), it may be repairable. Contact Lincoln here and ask them for a parts diagram for the switch assembly. That will help you be able to disassemble, and identify what exactly is wrong.

Then you can make the determination if it is fixable or not. Sometimes, manufacturers will have trade-in or trade-up programs as well for damage products. Inquire about this too.

I have a Lincoln power mig 216 and as soon as you strike an arc on metal my feed wire either kinks or breaks at the feed rollers and starts rolling out the side I have replaced the tip, liner and diffuser

Are there any kinks in the feed line from the spool to the tip that is causing the wire to not feed? Cut a length of wire and pull it though the feed line to see if there is a lot of friction in it, that would prevent wire feed. Finally, check the wire size - I know, but it is worth checking just in case.

Before you rush to send your machine to be fix, let's do a little troubleshooting:
Weak voltage can happen due to different problems:

1) Check your ground cable first, if your terminals are "blueish" or with signs of taking too much heat, replace them including your ground clamp.

2) Check you contact tip on the gun and tip holder these must be tight and free from spatter.

3) Check your plug at gun connection also must be tight.

If everything looks good to your eye, then check your invoice all lincoln units have 3 year warranty. Check you local welding supplier if they don't have a direct relationship with Lincoln then take your machine to your local Praxair location and they will contact Lincoln for you. Probably all you pay is the shipping.

I have a older lincoin ac225s welder I got this from a old man that said it worked . well it has no power cord on it and my question is is the ground wire connected to the point where the ground from the...

Hello, I was a little suspicious about the voltage on this unit. Forgive me if I am telling you something you already know on the power side of this welder.
The welder you have is a 230 volt single phase 60 hz. What you require is a 230 volt connection. The two line wires from the 230 are connected on either side of the switch. The ground has to be connected to the chassis / frame of the welder itself. I would not connect to the ground cable output, I would connect only to the metal chassis of the welder. This is to keep the welder isolated from the main power circuits in your shop.

Your gas hose or torch could be bad or plugged. Your gas solenoid on the welder itself could be bad. Disconnect the torch gas hose at the welder and see if you have gas coming out of the welder itself.

Inspector is correct! In wall or conduit wiring awg will always be greater than "open air" wiring. IE: the size of wire coming from your pole ... it's smaller than from your service riser into your meter. Code allows the cord to heat up... open air will cool it down.
