I cannot get the room monitor function to work. I follow the instructions, but cannot hear anything from the originating phone. It's like the microphone is not turning on. Any ideas??

Really bad crackling on line cant hear any conversations phone rings ok and dials ok but cant hear anything but crackling

Without the make and model of the phone unit, I would guess you are suffering from interference if you're using a cordless phone system.

If you are, move the base unit to a room that doesn't have appliances, wifi, or computers and check to see if that removes the static.

I have a Uniden set of of phones - 5.8 GHZ. Both are making a loud static sound when you turn it on. We can hardly hear. We unplugged both sets for a while, but this did not get rid of the static sound.

• Keep the handset away from microwave ovens, computers, remote control toys, wireless microphones, alarm systems, intercoms, room monitors, fluorescent lights, and electrical appliances.
• Move to another location or turn of f the source of interference.

How do I use the room monitor? when I go to menu then room monitor the display reads R.M extention?but when I enter 1 or 2 ect... it says not available

Very Cool Feature. With the handset off, press the mute button(menu/ok). then arrow down to ROOM MONITOR. press the mute button again. it will prompt "ROOM MONITOR EXTENSION?" press either 1 or 2 depending on what handset you are using(if 1 doesn't work, try 2). And that is it you can really hear what is going on. To stop monitoring, press cancel.

We have a lot of static and loud buzzing on the phone

I had the same issue that started on some 3 year old 5.8 GHZ Uniden cordless phones. I moved it from room to room and same buzzing. I found a older Uniden set I had kept in a desk drawer. I swapped out the power transformer (power cord) and it is clear as a bell now.

Heavy Static on phones. Can't hear caller. No caller ID

Room monitoring mode is basically a type of Intercom.

Press the *TONE/exit button on the handset to exit room monitor mode.

I will provide you with link to the user manual of the phone. Have a check at it. Might be useful.

Panasonic KX-t7020 - Sp-Phone light flashes constantly

First of all, UNPLUG one of the PITS phones. A 61610 only allows you to use one system phone per jack. The damage is probably not permanent, but I'd look at how you wired those jacks together. The voltage on each pair of a jack can be measured; it's 24 volts DC for the center pair (red/green) and about 13 volts for the data pair (black/yellow) and nothing between the voice and data pairs.
I'm guessing that you may have crossed or shorted one of the wires.

The power of a station is in an odd/even arrangement. Go back to the cabinet and uplug the two extensions that feed your jacks and its mate and test from there. If they both work, you're good to go, if not....16 minus 10 equals 6 :-)

You might find that if the ports are damaged, you can still use them for single line sets. Look at it this way, you had about 20 years of flawless operation.

You can use call pickup to share two phones in a room, 40 is all pickup, 43 answers the page, and 4+the extension number IIRC picks up a specific ringing phone.

Use phone as a room monitor

You can. Go off-hook on both the phones you want to use and this is what will happen. You may may get a recorded message from your central office or just a off-hook reminder tone that will last about 30 seconds and then you will hear the talk path between the two handsets. Keep in mind when you do this you can't receive any incomming calls because your line will appear busy to the callers. Thank You. Jerry

Just seledt room monitor from the menu and it will ask you which extension to open up to monitor. Then you should be able to listen in on the baby.
