I started vacuuming and the vacuum motor slowed down, then stopped. I smelled a burning smell. Then I discovered the next day that the bag bottom was wet and falling apart. Sebo X4 model

sucked up liquid goes with the air through the motor
that would cause the motor to burn out
with the current low cost of new vacuums , the repair /replacement of the motor would be close to a new unit
take it to an appliance repair shop and get a proper diagnosis and quote

How do I remove a duster sucked up in dc04 and cannot find it anywhere?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC04 is making a burning smell after picking up the duster, I would encourage you not to use the machine until we can help you locate and clear the blockage, and run you through some quick troubleshooting checks to make sure nothing is damaged.

When you have a moment, please call our freephone UK Helpline when you have your machine to hand. We're available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

If there's a burning smell and the belts are fine, the problem is going to be hot wires causing the insulation to melt, or the motor going bad. Discontinue use and have it checked at a repair shop.

When I turn the vacuum on it sounds really loud, louder than usual, and after a few minutes it smells like burning rubber around the canister. The vacuum is still sucking.

The armature is probably missing a plate and the motor is about ready to burn up, but check the filter and screen on the bottom of the motor first. The screen can be checked by removing the filter and looking up at the motor from below. Clean if necessary by removing the motor. Unplug the unit first. If the motor sounds rough and smells like something electrical burning. It's going to need to be replaced. Check your model # and order a replacement. Pretty easy to install if you get the right motor. Get the foam gasket for under the motor if your replacing a three stage motor.

I have a egomaxx 1800 vacuum cleaner which is not 'sucking' up at all well. There is no obvious blockage.

Sometimes the blockage is within the hose itself and not easy to spot. The only thing that can keep a vacuum from sucking is somekind of blockage. It is rare that a motor have lost power because of a short thats why it is not sucking, and it would be very obvious because you would smell something burning.

Vaccum has no suction

Here is what we did to fix the problem of our vacuum having no suction.
We unscrewed the three screws on the back and took the hose off of the vacuum.  Then we took the hose outside and put the water hose through the vacuum hose and turned on the water.  After about 30 second the water pushed through a dust bunny the size of a fist and a marker.  Basically, the vacuum did not have suction because the hose was clogged with dust, etc.  After reassembling the vacuum, it worked just fine.
