Question about Sony Dvcam DSR-PD150 DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Distorted pixelated image on right side

This is not visible on recording and only happens in a vertically banded area on the right 3rd of the screen area. It has been intermittent and not fixed with multiple head cleanings.

Re: distorted pixelated image on right side

Pixelation on the right side of the picture is an indication of a misaligned tape exit roller.  head cleaning won't fix it; it has to be done by a technician.

Pv-l453d no picture from lens to lcd blank screen ?

Your device has the option buttons on which to select recording by observing the process from the user observation scopes. One option only could be observed at the recording session. On the other hand, disabling the option of observing a recording session on the scope lense automatically displays the recording session on the visible lense LCD screen area.

Manipulating the Camcorder is from the option buttons located along the sides of the camera. A switch on the menu area should make that experiece achievable.

When recording and playing back the view screen is distorted with alternating lines.

If there is no problem when you play back on a different camera or computer, then the fault concerns LCD ribbon cable or lcd controller circuit on main pcb.

If the recorded image is also distorted on computer and different camcorder, then you have a faulty ccd sensor.
Also wiring problem and pcb fault sometimes can cause ditorted picture, in that case the problem is usually a kind of dirturbance and does not happen all the time.

In Camera mode, only streaky vertical lines visible on screen

Its a fault with many of the canons,
they have NOT recognised it,
but you can get it fixed free by a third party company
(cant remember off hand which one soz)

Funny how they do it for free,
as if canon are paying them so they dont have to own up !!!

Distorted Image

if it records the distortion then i suspect the guides are out of adjustment or your capstand roller is pushing the tape to high on the guides. need to have a profession serviced.

Distorted pixelated image on right side

pixelation on the right side is an indication of misalignment of the exit roller.  don't try to align it yourself unless you're experienced in this repair.

LCD won't project

You may have a problem with the image sensor device (CCD). From October 3, 2005 through October 2, 2007, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned problem where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue. To see if you have this problem: Power On your camcorder (make sure the battery is fully charged). Check the LCD screen and verify that the display icons are turned on. If you cannot see the icons, press the Display button until the icons are visible. Put a tape in the camcorder. With the lens cap off, record some video. NOTE: Be sure to speak during the recording so the video will contain your voice. Rewind this section of the tape (using tape counter to verify start of your recording). Play back the recorded video and use the LCD screen on the camcorder to view it. You should hear the audio you recorded and the Display icons/text will still appear. If your camcorder is affected by this CCD issue, the picture will either be extremely distorted, or there will be no visible picture (just a blank LCD screen with the display icons still visible).
