Feed dogs won't go up on my Babylock Ellegant

I was sewing with my babylock ellegante...just doing a straight stitch. The feed dogs were up and now they are down. I didn't drop the feed dogs, they went down on their own, but won't go back up again. No warning, sound or anything with this. I've tried shutting my machine off to reset it and nothing happened. There is no category for machine embriodery and sewing so I picked computer expert.

Thanks for the tip...I will give that a try. Not really sure how to get the feet off. I've never done that before, but I'm sure that it won't be too difficult. If all else fails...I'll have to call my dealer and bring the machine in for service.

The thread may be jammed beneath the feet and you can't see this from your view. take the feet off and you'll probably discover the beginning of the thread jam. Use patience getting the thread out. It is better to cut than pull (that'll leave just enough behind to start another jam and then it'll be time for a break)

Feed dog

you can't sew a straight stitch without the feeddogs being in the up position, or it could break a needle and damage the machine.
so when the machine says put the feed dogs up it telling you
it can't sew a straight stitch with out them up

I have forgotten the settings to set the differential feed on my babylock 5380E

The differntial feed is usually set on N. If you move the lever up, you gather. If you move it down, the fabric will lettuce. These things happen because there are two sets of feed dogs feeding at different rates.

We were just given a babylock serger and the fabric won't advance. The dogs don't seem to be moving.

Depends on the model but some machines have a problem that the feed regulator cam has become loose (2 set screws) and will not advance the material. A good Babylock dealer will be able to diagnose quick.

Feed dog on Serger Babylock 5260D

Make sure that the presser foot dial (the silver "knob") on top of the machine is not too loose. You can adjust this w/ a nickel; tighten it all the way down & then loosen about 4 full rotations for cotton fabrics. Also make sure the Differentail feed lever is on "N". You can order a book from your local Baby Lock dealership for all models. Good Luck.

Feed Dog problem

Here are some common reasons that the fabric won't feed:
1. Stitch length is set to zero, or machine is in button hole setting
2. Feed dogs are dropped (free motion setting)
3. Broken gears (typically in old singers)
4. Presser bar not coming down - may be bound up.
5. Lots of lint under the needle plate (in between the feed dogs) preventing feed dogs from raising.

Hope this helps.

It is something I cannot explain how to do on here, you need to be shown, would suggest you get in touch with a sewing machine tech.
