Question about Canon PowerShot Cameras
I suddenly stopped being able to see the display on the LCD screen while I can see through the EVF. I used to be able to take videos with the screen turned out at an angle if I was shooting over people's heads in a crowd, but for some reason the LCD does not turn on any more for still/video shots. It had happened once several years ago, & I think I had been able to reset the camera somehow, but I can't just remember what I did. Please help! Thanks!
To the right of the Menu button there is a button marked DISP. Press it twice.

Testimonial: "Very quick and helpful response. I was thinking differently from what I can do with the camera, and the answer was decisive. Thanks."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I too had the problem (described above) -- of seeing the purplish vertical curtain whenever I looked in my Canon PowerShot S410's LCD monitor.
I contacted Canon, they sent me a prepaid shipping label I could use at my local UPS store; they repaired the problem and then shipped the camera back to me. I received the camera just now and the problem seems to have been resolved.
Thank you, FixYa experts, for identifying the problem and indicating that Canon was fixing it at no charge.

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

First of all, the live view mode will work only in creative zones, that is from mode P. P, Tv, Av, M modes. Put the camera into one of these modes and push the Set button that is located behind the camera, amidst the four direction buttons, and you're live! Also note that to autofocus here, you should use the zoom minus button, a button with a star beside it.
