SOURCE: Energy S8.3 Subwoofer

I have the exact same problem with my S8.3 that I purchased a few months ago. It's just the blue LED that doesn't light up, otherwise it seems to output bass and the volume control works. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Subwoofer hum

Hi,

Based on your description, the internal power supply of the subwoofer amplifier would be suspect. Often it would be a blistered or leaking filter capacitor. It is a relatively easy/inexpensive repair.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I had the same problem...replaced the C42 capacitor with one that I got from RS...fixed everything and all is well again. I only have moderate soldering skills, too, so if I can do it, so can you

AVR-1912 & no subwoofer

It sounds like the sub has an auto power mode, hence why it switches to red (off), so your system will not detect it. If there is any control to switch it on all the time do so and try it again. It must be green all the time during the test.
