I have similar problem, my buttons on the right side including yjr start button have slipped inside the case and I can not restart the charged device, Can you help? Pat Green, firstname.lastname@example.org, 409-782-2572, thanks if you can help.
A bit late but FWIW, I had this problem. I eventually just moved any data I needed to a safe place & fully reset it. To reset, hold the power button & volume up button simultaneously. It should boot to a screen that tells you what to do next. I think they ask you to keep holding the power button for a reset. Do that & you'll see a big old 3D Android figure & a blue progress bar. Give it a minute & it should eventually load. After that I got a screen that said it was "updating" & gave me a percentage countdown. It finally booted like normal to factory settings. All of my data was gone but it now turns on/off like it should.
Normally, with Android devices, if you enter the wrong pattern five times in a row, the device will give you an option to enter your Google account information (e-mail address and password). Once you have done this, it will let you reset your security pattern. If this doesn't work, the next best thing to try would be a firemware The firmware update process will wipe the root of the device (but leave your SD card and books intact), basically resetting it to factory settings, before you even set a security pattern.
