Question about Philips Bmw E38 E39 Dsp Amp Amplifier 540i 740i
I have a 97 BMW E39 528i with the Philips DSP amplifier. I've noticed I have several speakers not working. Specifically, neither front tweeter, front right midrange and rear mid/tweet are all not working. The front right woofer sounds marginal. I've read that these dsp amps can be coded by a dealer computer to work as a E39, E38 or X5 type system, since all three use the same amp. Is it possible that my amp just needs to be recoded?

SOURCE: Left Channel Not Working
Hello fakeman_56, You may have blown the power output amplifier on the left channel. This is what this looks like. You will have to take some measurments to determine if the output power amplifier is indeed malfunctioning. I hope this helps, Thank you, shuttle83,

You may also need to change the speaker set up. Go to DISC setting (one of the top selections on the remote) make sure you have no Disc in the DVD player. When in this mode press setup on the remote. On this menu you will have a option to adjust the speaker volume.
I had to increase my speaker volumes to get better sound. This setting is not accessible if you try to do the set up in other than DISC setting. Be sure to check the SURROUND setting. The SURROUND button on the remote will toggle between stereo and surround as stated in a previous post.
