Question about Sony XR-CA600X Cassette Player

1 Answer

I am rigging up an indoor sound system using an old Sony Xplod cassette deck (xr-ca800). I have the unit powered up. I can listen to the radio and tapes, but what I really want is to utilize the R/L auxiliary ports in the back. I thought it would be as easy as cycling through the source menu, but when I push the source button, nothing happens. It will automatically switch over to cassette when one is inserted, but no such luck with the rear aux inputs. I've tried searching through the menu, holding source for several seconds, resetting the unit, but still no luck. Got any clues for me?

Those are for the optional CD/MD changer. The deck won't switch over to those inputs unless a compatible changer is hooked up via the bus control. The only way to make this work would require a changer.

SOURCE: No sound from cd or aux on CDX-GT32W

Just connect together the solid blue wire on the main harness to the radio with the blue/striped wire. The blue wire is for the power antenna and the blue striped is for the remote amp. but if not connected together only the fm/am has outputs to the line output RCA jacks. I learned this through Sony's tech line and it works perfectly now.

SOURCE: Turning off sony cdx-gt170 display

Hold the volume button down until the clock setting comes on. Then press the same button until you see "Demo:On" on the screen. Turn the volume either up or down to change the setting and then hold the volume button down until you see "AUX" or "TUNER" on the main screen again.

Unit will not work on AC power but does on batteries. Power outlet is good, power cord is good. Are there any external resets on the unit.

Not unless you see something labelled so - but power supplies don't tend to work like that!
It's either power supply circuitry thats died but it may have a replaceable long life internal fuse which a workshop (repairer) can replace, and should be real cheap to do.
Otherwise, for indoor use, to save on batteries, get a universal AC to DC adaptor. I think you'll find it has a DC IN socket somewhere about it (back or sides)

I have a Sony CFD 5250 Radio Cassette-Corder. Can I play music from an I-Pod through it? I cannot find the manual. Can I access a manual online?

The answer is yes, but the ease of doing so will vary. If the unit has an auxiliary input all you will need is a 3.5 millimeter to stereo RCA plug adapter. If it does not have an aux in then it gets more complicated, but it can be done. Do a little digging on the internet for an old cassette adapter. These were used in years gone by to allow the playing of a portable CD player through a cassette deck. The adapter looks just like a cassette, but it has a wire coming off of it with a 3.5 millimeter plug on the end. It will allow you play the I-Pod through the cassette deck just like a portable CD player.

Sony CFD G505 CD Radio Cassette-Corder - I have no power when power button is pressed. It is 6 months old. Could it be a fuse from a power surge. It was pluged in at an older trailer house. The lights do...

If it is only 6 months old I would recommend you take it back to where you bought it as it is still under warrenty. If you start playing with it and take it apart the warrenty will be void. But dont tell them about the old trailer house bit, just it stopped working.
