Try first tripping the circuit breaker for ten minutes and see if this reset the board.

Here is the part: PS394424

Check also the connector:PS345626

Here all diagrams for your appliance.

Parts must be tested before replacement.

Estate dryer TGDS840JQ1 does not heat. I've checked the thermal fuse. I'm checking the cycle control switch but it has 4 connectors rather than two. Top and bottom connectors have the same color...

Hello Bob,

The cycle thermostat sounds good to me the two wires on the top/bottom should be zero ohms 1.1 is fine the two across from each other are going to be in the range of 6-8k so they as well are fine. What ya need to check is the heat element itself it should be between 10-20 ohms

Whta you to check also is the 2 thermostats where the tube the burner asm. fits to in the rear of the dryer both of the should be zero ohms resistiance (1-5 would be ok) if you find either of them to be open that will be the reason the dryer isnt not heating

But on the gas dryer the most common thing that will make it not heat is going to be the igniter..need to check it not for ohms but when the dryer is running that their is 120 volts to it,if it has 120vac and doesnt come on the igniter is bad

if the igniter does not have 120 volts need to check the flame sensor(black rectangle peice on the side of the burner tube) for zero ohms before checking it be sure the power is disconnected since it if you touch it live it will shock you

if all above checks good either the timer or the motor will cause the dryer to neot heat as well
but i suspect it will either be the igniter of one of the thermostats on the housing in the rear where the burner tube fits into

Good luck,

I have an Estate TGDS840JQ1 gas dryer and it does not get hot at all. It does tumble. i have read some of your possible solutions, how hard is it to remove the back to examine for a bad fuse or how...

First check to see that the gas burner is "trying to come on but doesnt". Pull the little plastic cover off and look through the little hole in the front as it starts. If you see the ignitor repeatedly glow then go off without lighting the gas, the problems with the burner (or you have no gas). If not, you can easily take the back off and check the fuses shown heresagacious.jpg

Estate TGDS840JQ1 Gas Dryer NOT HEATING

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

I have a Whirlpool Estate dryer Model TGDS840PQ0. During auto sense, the timer will not move. But during a "time dry" session, the timer seemse to work just fine. Any ideas?

in auto the timer will not move if there is no heat, when the heat stops the timer moves, heat comes on timer doesn't move, when it's on auto make sure power is going down to the heating system, next time send model number and if it's gas or electric, good luck

Dryer does not start

Check the fuse on the blower housing.
To get to the heating element on most of these dryers you remove the back dust cover: whirlpool%20dryer.jpg 1. Hi Limit (small limit upper right hand side of this pic) the most frequent problem if dryer RUNS but no heat. 2. Heater assembly. 7. Control thermostat(s). 5. Fuse(350F), if blown(open) the dryer will NOT run. 4. Heater element.

Whirlpool Estate Dryer TGDS840JQ1 dryer runs but does not heat up to dry the clothes.

when you say heat up is it at least getting warm...
you may have a igniter gone bad or your thermostat may have failed... your igniter is what has to ignite the gas to burn to make it hot. If its electric then your heating coil has failed and needs to be replaced
