theres probably a problem with the right channel cable or plug that connects the tv to the reciever, or the tv is set to mono audio.

Click Yamaha Support and download required user manual of receiver to figure out to set it on 2 channel output.
Need further help, please intimate receiver model number.

Try running digital audio from the source - cable/sat - to the receiver. The fewer intervening connections and entities, the better. TV's are NOT considered sound sources for high end purposes or we wouldn't have Yamaha HTR-5860's and better speakers, would we?
