Question about Vizio P2 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

Yellow tinted picture

When I turned on the TV it flashed then went blank for a few seconds. When the picture appeared it was yellow. I tried leaving unplugged for hours, checked inputs...etc.. to no avail. The picture clarity is still excellent. You can also differentiate red colored items for some reason. How much does it typically cost to repair? Thanks, Starrman

Re: Yellow tinted picture

Depending on the manufacture of your set there may not be anyone to service it.  Some manufactureres require you to ship the set to them for service.  The serial number will give you the inormation you need.  If the serial number is all digits the set is made by Akai and most parts are available from Fox International.  If the serial number is alpha numeric you need to call VIZIO OR V,INC. WEB SITE HTTP://VINC.COM. 1-888-849-8900. DECISION 1 IS THE DISPATCH COMPANY FOR THIS PRODUCT.

Ocasionally, after the TV has been on for a while, the red color just disappears leaving the picture with a pronounced yellow tint to the colors.

First check all your input cables at both the source & the TV. try wiggling them at the units to see if problem may be in the cable or possibly in the PCBoard. You may have to replace the MAIN PCBoard. I cannot give you the part# since you didn't give your brand or model#.
To locate the part# you might go on line to the manufactures support site.

Panasonic rear projection tv has a yellow tint, and it just turned off by itself while the indicator light flashed yellow. What's wrong with it.

The yellow tint can be caused by a faulty lens where the filters are burnt out. Normally this happens when the blue filter burns you get a yellow picture on the screen.

Unfortunately, this can be expensive to repair.

No picture on screen

Is the TV under warranty? If it is don't muck around, contact them straight away as you have a electronic problem with your screen.
Before that make sure the yellow chord is in the visual port and red and white into sound. 2) If thats all good try an experiment, as you know the sound is good, use one of the sound cables to replace the yellow. Is there a picture now? If so replace chord, if not make contact to exchange for warranty.

I am noticing a yellow tinted circle in the middle of my screen. It is noticible when the screen is blank between channels and you can see anything white on the middle of the screen is tinted yellow. Do...

Is it an LCD tv or CRT ?
If CRT try moving the TV to a different location as the magnetic field from another device or even the earth can effect it.
The power switch (full power on) would normally demagnetise the screen.
If its an LCD has any object hit the screen, it could be a child's toy or knocking the screen can bruise the panel.

Yellow tint on right half of hdtv screen

The would be due to a faulty inverter that controls how much power is give to the display at a time so when these go out you will see this tint or black. So you can replace the inverter or bring it into a shop and have it replaced.

Colorimetre HCFR software
AVC HD 709 calibration disk
Spyder2 colorimeter (I know most prefer the Eye-One meters, but the Spyder2 was available from my job at no cost)

Here are the settings:

PS3 Blu-Ray player

Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr (important!!! NOT RGB output)
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On (this TV can reproduce video at 48hz for accurate 2:2 pulldown)
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI): On (not sure if this matters)

Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.

Samsung lcd tv ltm1755b won't turn on (power light stays red)

Problem: Samsung LTM1755B with only a blinking yellow LED when you try to turn it on.

Solution: I just had one of these come in. I opened it up, and found the U501 capacitor a little suspicious looking, in that it had a deformed top. It was a 470uF 16V electrolytic 105degC 10mm x 12mm. I replaced it with a very good quality 1000uF 16V electrolytic 105degC 10mm x 16mm Nichicon UHN1C102MPD. After that repair, when I tried to turn it on, the LED was yellow for a second, then green, then I got a picture, and it appeared to work great. I then asked the owner a week later how it was working, and they said it was working just like new!
