Id say refit the old timer, check if the element/thermostat is ok,they can"thermostop" the timer while it heats to correct temperature and then it moves on

If the motor is going thru cycles and the agitator doesn't move, than it means the drive link snapped. cheap repair. it was made to protect the motor and trans. Read the manual before doing this. it will show you how to do it easily. iv'e done mine around 4 times. my wife keeps jamming too many clothes into the thing.
good luck

KenmorenLaunry center not draining or advancing cycles

Hi David if the timer is not cycling the tub will not drain ,the washer will not complete cycles, second check the lock switch on the door. this can stop the timer and the tub from draining. when not cycling the timer is at fault , this could be two problems, 1st when everything stops check the door safety switch , 2nd listen for the timer, if it stops running. good luck ,geodaws

Kenmore 80 series top load washer. In the permanent press mode the machine will stop when it moves to the rinse mode. I can manually move the time past the midpoint of the cycle it will run for a minute...

So it will spin and drain when put in the spin cycle right? More than likely it is your timer if you have to keep manually setting. I would check on timer prices and go from there.

After the initial wash cycle, I have to manually turn knob on washer to change to each cycle when it is time to rinse and spin. What is causing this problem?????

Hi just read your posting .I do not know the make or model number of your machine but this fault is common on timer model machine. The fault with your machine is your TIMER is faulty. To be exact it is the timer motor that is faulty. This advances the timer throe the cycles.Just a question,Does the timer move at all from the original selected position? If it does not move at all then this is the fault. Please reply with additional information on the questions and I can hopefully help you throe this problem.Looking forward to your reply.

Washer timer advances all the way to off, but never stops. washer just keeps spinning. new timer is not the solution.

IF THE TIMER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND SOUNDS LIKE IT'S WORKING THERE HAS TO BE A WIRE OUT OF PLACE. THE TIMES HAS CONTACTS THRU OUT THE DIAL TO PUT MACHING INTO DIFFERANT CYCLES AT THE STOP CYCLE THE WASHER SHOULD STOP IF THE CONTACTS ARE GOOD

Timer will not advance into defrost. Replaced timer 3 times.

If you have recently replaced the timer with a new one it's likely you need to make a wiring modification to the timer for your machine.

Whirlpool washing machine, works when turn manually, but not auto

that would be your timer. Yes, it would have to be replaced and it isn't cheap depending on the year and if it is digital or not.

Machine won't move thru cycles automatically

Looks like the timer needs replacing.
It would be advised to contact a serviceman to confirm this is the case.

Hope this helps!?

Machine will not automatically advance thru cycles

The timer has a motor used to advance it through the cycles. If the machine fills with water and the timer stays in one position no matter where you put it......even in the spin cycle, then replace your timer.
