This is a 3-way speaker; specifically which speakers do you hear something from and which speakers do you hear nothing from? If the woofer amplifer is blown, for example, you will hear nothing from the woofers, but will hear sound from the midrange speakers and the tweeter.
Go to Parts Express and buy the Bash 300w digital subwoofer amp.It fits almost exact except it is one inch shorter.Just use mdf to fill the space and this amp will outperform the original.I have done this and it's not really difficult, pretty straight forward. They usually sell for around $149,but they have sales often around $99.Good luck.
If you have no Tv repair experience, how do you know what part this is?, as I dont have a clue as you didnt supply a schematic or a picture of what the part was. We techs have a trade we learned not by doing but by going to school to learn the theroy behind the circuits. If you know how to read a schematic diagram, i suggest that you get one and know what part it is that you think you found burnt out. If you go to http://www.servicemanuals.net, download a service manual or schematic diagram, i will assist you in this repair as long as you have the proper equipment such as a mutimeter and know how to trouble shoot solid state electronics. Its not a tube you can take out and test or a board that can be exchanged anymore my freind. Its down to the componet level these days.
