If you have changed the carby, that can be complicated when you go into jetting but just a tuneup, in neutral or park, turn your idle screw to as low a speed while idling smooth, adjust mixture, normal starting position is approximately 1 1/4 turns out. when the idle picks up over 600 rpm reduce the idle (this is a guide only because a modified cam will not idle this low) then adjust again until you achieve the lowest smooth idle, the final step is to increase the idle speed to manufactures specification

I have a 1990 Ford Ranger Extended Cab with a M5OD V6 manual Transmission. I really like to know if there is a V8 that will bolt right up with out changing up the motor mounts.

There are no V8s that will bolt right up to your existing drivetrain. The swap would require modification of motor mounts, heater fan box or firewall depending on your motor of choice, a larger capacity radiator, splicing into your existing wiring, a v8 transmission (ie C4 if automatic) and a v8 transfer case if 4x4, and a minimum of a 8.8" ford rear end (preferably a 9" ford rear end)/dana 44 front end to handle the power.

There are many books out there specifically detailing how to swap a v8 into a Ford Ranger. Refer to this site if you are really interested in undertaking this project: http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/v8conversion.html

yes if the motors are matched in mounts and size but if not matched
yes you can but it requires you adjusting motor mounts maken the chassis stronger there is a lot of welding and alot of moving of parts for this engine
