Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi. I have a Sony TRV99 camcorder. First the zoom function stopped working then within a couple minutes, the playblack, rewind and fast foward buttons stopped working. Every other function still works including being able to record. Can you please tell me the name of the part and part number that is defective? Is that a circuit board? Thak you!

Hi again and A BIG THANKS for your reply! I also have another question if you don't mind.
I also have a Sony camcorder CCD TRV 58. It is in BRAND NEW condition and only 2 tapes were recorded in it before putting it in the closet for several years. I took the camcorder out the other day and everything works fine EXCEPT it wont "show" the tape while it's being played. It acts like it's recording but when I play back what I just recorded, nothing...
When I pause it on playback you can see super heavy snow with the bars from the head but no picture. It's "like" the playback head is barley touching OR the tape is being played back on the OPPOSITE or REVERSE side of the tape. Pinch roller??? Thanks again!!!

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV37 8mm Analog... 2 Problems, maybe more unknown at this time:

This does require disassembly to remedy the problem. There are various possible fixes. The most prevelant I have seen is cold solder connections of the board connector for the fpc cable from the top operation switch block ass'y. All you need is someone who can handle this task, like a professional. The controls that you are experiencing problems with are all linked with one cable and connector. One bad solder joint can cause serveral operation faults. Good Luck, magic seadog

Cassettes not rewinding

The heads could also just need a good cleaning, either professionally or using a head cleaner dv tape. It's important to remember to always use the same manufacturer dv tape all the time. Evidently, Sony and Panasonic do not mix well, and the lubricants from those two tapes combined will gum up the works. If you use Sony dv's, always use a Sony head cleaner and vice versa. Cold can also cause those lubricants to gum up. Sometimes simply fast forwarding will loosen things up.
