Question about Raritan Icer-ette Ice Cube Maker

1 Answer

When I turn on the unit, the icemaker gets warm, but nothing else happens. Ice is not made and what minimal sound is heard, stops after about 3 min.

This frigidaire (side by side) only blows warm air on both sides

    Good day,
First, I would unplug the machine, and then unplug the ice maker. Wait 20 minutes and plug in refrigerator. See if it cools without the ice maker in the equation.
Sounds more like starting components on the compressor, or a compressor starting to fail.
    Post back with results.
    Thank you.

Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator (GS5SHAXNLOO) Ice maker not running, some ice in maker melted together

I have the same model. This has happened to me several times (usually when the door was kept ajar without notice).
Simply open the door, take a common hairdryer and blow at high speed (hottest also) all around the area of where you can feel the ice in the tray, but hasn't dumped yet. It will usually take about 5-8 minutes of consistently moving back and forth around that area. What has happened is the lines bringing water to the trays have frozen over. When you "thaw" them out, the ice made will dump in about 45 minutes. When you hear the ice fall, you will know it's in working order again. I have NOT heard this is a "flawed" icemaker, only that it is hypersensitive to freezing lines when a door is left ajar. In your case, to prevent this from happening again. If you shut the icemaker off again, make SURE you turn off the source of the water feed BEFORE you turn off the ice maker. By doing this, the lines will empty as it makes it's last tray of water. Try that - very confident it will fix your problem!

Starts to make ice, but goies in reverse cycle before finish

OK. Forget the board. what you hear is the pump running when the unit is off. It sounds like a drain is kinked and the pump is shutting it down for safety. Also when this unit starts it will dump early for a couple of cycles before the ice gets normal size. Run the icemaker and unplug the pump in your water trough to make sure it has a frost pattern all the way thru.(takes 5 min)If not it could be a leak it the sealed system. Remember when you adjust the setting on the board this will take 5 cycles before you see any changes. And 24 hours for more consistant ice.

check and make sure you don't have a piece of scale in the intake of the waterpump. the pump stops when the unit goes into defrost to dump the ice onto the cutter grid. also check the fan under the icemaker for lint buildup on the condensor

Ice Maker Not Making Ice BUT making a "trying" sound

Likely that the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.

Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.

Most fridges run a defrost cycle 2 or 3 times a day. When this is happening a normal pop and sizzle sound will be heard. Otherwise I will need more information. Ice makers need to be cold enough to dispense ice, but not to fill. If yours will not fill, it may be the water filter.
