Dennon gets hot shuts off

how are your four outside speakers hooked up? If you have four speakers hooked up to only two output channels on the receiver, the receiver is sensing a short and shutting down to avoid damage to the amp.

Power overload

That is a good thing, your receiver is going into "protect mode" that means the receiver is shutting down to keep from damaging delicate internal circuitry, it is sensing a speaker bottoming out or some other electrical "short" that could be damaging!
Also could be from over driveing the amp and then it starts to overheat thus going into "protect mode".
If your speakers are "clipping or distorting" turn it down, you are going to ruin your amp. Good luck !

Avr Shuts down at high volume

It does that because there is a safety feature in all the newer devices. If your system is turned up to high you would blow your audio outputs or speakers. That's why it shuts off.

I took my Denon receiver to a local repair facility, because it wouldn't fully "boot", after shutting down, when I tried to run a computer rca plug (on both ends) from our computer to a in wall -...

Please post the exact symptoms. What do you mean by not "booting up"? Does it click on then click off? This would mean that the unit is in protect mode which is usually caused by a problem with the output amplifier section not the Micro. Do you have any experience with electronics repairs? If so, I can try to guide you through the repair.

Let me know.

The receiver sound shuts off

There is a problem with the receiver that is allowing DC voltage to get to the output amp section. This is detected and the protection circuit shuts down the receiver. Yamaha uses coupling capacitors between sections to prevent this. If one of these is defective, it would explain your symptom. This should be a relatively simple repair for a repair shop. Expect $10-$25 for parts plus the local labor rate.
