SOURCE: We have 1992 Yamaha Venture.

If the battery is draining while the bike is running you have a failure in the charging system. Check your alternator and your voltage rectifier. While the bike is runnning, if you put a voltmeter on the battery at idle you should get around 13-14v. If you rev the engine up to 3-4000 rpm that voltage should rise a bit, say 1/2 to 1v. If you increase your electrical load (lights, heated grips or clothing, radio, etc.) it should rise a little more.

With the bike off and the key off, put your voltmeter's red lead on each fuse in your fusebox and the black lead to ground. Are you getting any voltage? There should be none on any fuse that does not have power while the bike is off. If you find voltage, note what circuit you find it on and check that circuit for a faulty component or shorted wiring.

Good luck to you.

My 2001 yamaha r6 keeps draining all the water out of batteries ive replaced stator and voltage regulator

is battery more than two years old? if yes replace battery. Battery voltage should be >12.4 volts minimum. if it wont hold this charge its bad. Check all the wiring on your bike to make sure that you dont have a shorted system that is draining down you battery.

2008 Yamaha wr 250f with a voltage drain on the battery.

Hi Explorer,

aside from hallogen fog lamps, i cannot think of other matters / parts of a bike that can drain the battery. this is a clear short issue. check the wirings and make sure that the circuits are harnessed, you'll see the difference once they are tied up. BTW, if the battery is a year old, have it recharged.

Battery not holding a charge,

Check the charging rate of your bike, see if its system is charging, if it does charge thn theres somewhere the battery is getting drained out.
In order to see if tht is happenning, switch off everything and thn remove one battery wire on the battery, after doing so try to fix it back and notice if theres any sparks when it comes to the contact of the battery terminal , if so thn theres a drain somewhere in the electricals and wiring.

Good luck.
