Question about Garmin Nuvi 760 Car GPS Receiver
Nuvi 760 has new battery, but not charging from either GTM-20 or the cradle. Not sure how to figure out where the connection is bad. When I wiggle the wire it will momentarily charge, so i know the problem is either the connector on the GTM-20 or the connector on the cradle. Any suggestions are welcome.
The wire may be defective, especially where it plugs into the connectors.

The Garmin Nuvi 855 uses a Lithium-ion battery. It is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge.
In other words there is no memory effect with these batteries and it should be safe to charge it for as long as you like on the first charge. I would estimate 4 hours will give you a full charge if you wish to do this from the outset.

broken wire or bad fuse. it may "look" good but actually be bad

Testimonial: "Thanks, for the feedback. I will try replacing the fuse. much appreciated!"
SOURCE: batteries will not charge
Your not the Lone Ranger on this problem. After awhile the battery will no longer take a charge. IT is not a replaceable battery by the user. It must be sent back to Garmin for a new battery. If you only use the gps when in a vehicle, it still will work fine when pluged into a 12v source.

If yours has a plastic tip at the silver metal contact, just unscrew the plastic part between the silver ring and the silver tip. Counter clockwise! Fuse should fall out but take cautions not to lose the silver tip part. I you do it can be found at www.gpsnstuff.com
