If the tank is on its side when you take it off, it may be down to the fuel filter being clogged up

Hi, i have a gpz500 93 plate that wont start up

there's so many things it could be but if you have covered all you say thoroughly, have you checked the timing? As it is fixed the only timing you can double check is the cams and crank. do you have a manual?

The older rotors used to crack up and ruin things to do with timing but i think the D models have improved rotors.

I put a new fuel pump on a 94 Mazda and now it won't work in the car but runs fine when I take it off and try it. Is there a relay or something like fuel cutoff? If so where is it

There are fuses for the fuel pump and should be located under the hood. You should not run the pump out of the fuel tank the fuel keeps the pump cool and it only takes about 15 seconds to destroy a new pump when running it out of the tank.Chances are you might have ruined the pump by running it out of the tank.

Try changing the plugs & draining down the carbs by way of the drain bolt at the bottom of the carbs
If this doesnt work then get back in touch as it could be many things

Could be a fuel issue, Start by changing the fuel filter, if that doesnt work you might want to drop the gas tank and check the strainer on the fuel pump and make sure the tank is clean.

Stevie-J my gpz 500s as a fuel starvation problem it will run forever on tickover but under load cuts out at after about 1 mile as the carb bowl is empty

check to make sure you have good fuel flow coming fro the lines going to the carb. if it flows well, then you need a float adjustment. there should be a metal tab just under the needle that cuts your fuel off when the carb is full. depending on what style float is in there, it may be just a metal piece or it may be attatched to the float assembly. either way, take that tab under the needle, and ben it DOWN, towards the bottom of the carb. not much though, maybe only a mm. or two is all it would take. move it too much, and your carb will overflow. this will let a bit more fuel in before that needle seals the fuel inlet on the carb, and should fix your problem. when the carb is off, it may also be a good idea to remove the float and needle and use carburetor cleaner or compressed air to blow through the fuel inlet, just to be sure there are no obstructions.

Kawazaki gpz carbs will fire when you put petrol directlt in them

Check the routing of the wires under the tank. Also check the wire connections. It sounds like the installation of the tank is pulling on the wires causing a momentary disconnection of a power wire.
Alternate to that, are the spark plug wires grounding against the tank?

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
