The power adapter could have a problem and be outputting too much power. This won't affect the battery but the computer will close down as a protection measure.

Toshiba A105 problems

Step 1:
It can be very frustrating when you encounter a problem with your Toshiba Satellite laptop computer. Unfortunately, these specific Toshiba laptop models have a tendency to run into certain problems because of their design. On the plus side, computer technicians have pinpointed several of these issues, and they have troubleshooting information readily available to assist Toshiba Satellite owners. These are some common issues and solutions.

Overheating If the laptop shuts down randomly whenever you attempt to run different programs then it is usually happening due to an overheated laptop. This can occur because your heat sink is filled with dust, which affects the operation of the cooling fan. The heat leaving the processor gets trapped in your laptop resulting in overheating and shuts down. Purchase compressed air in a can and blow it either into the air intakes located on the bottom of the laptop or you can remove the keyboard to get to the cooling fan and blow the dust off. If this doesn't remedy the problem, you may need to replace your cooling fan; you should hear it start working when you boot up your laptop. b> Defective Memory This problem is typically recognized upon start-up. If you see strange characters or lines of dots on your screen, this suggests defective on-board memory. To test for this problem you need to remove external RAM modules and download the Memtest 86+ utility and burn it to a disc (see Link Below). http://www.memtest86.com/ You can then run the utility from the disc after restarting your computer. Unfortunately, if this is the problem you will have to replace the motherboard. b> Power Jack Problem Power jacks on these laptops have a known history of losing contact between the positive pin and the motherboard. You can diagnose this problem if you notice your laptop using battery power when the power adapter is still plugged in. To fix this problem you have to disassemble the laptop and take out the motherboard. You then have to solder the power jack (this should only be performed by those with laptop repair experience.) b> Charging the Battery If your laptop will not turn on when starting on battery power or the battery charge LED light doesn't light up when you plug it into the power outlet, the battery isn't properly charging. For Toshiba Satellites that only operate when they are plugged in, you need to download the latest BIOS for your Satellite model from the Toshiba website. Toshiba recommends you should use version 1.30 or newer (see Link Below).

Older Toshiba laptop runs on battery, but not AC cord.

on some older laptops the battery has to be installed for it to turn on.
if the battery don't hold a charge it's no good.. but you need it to get power from plug.

I have a Toshiba L300, when ever i connect the Adapter Chager, the laptop freezes and it give me a blue screen background (not BSOD). The laptop' working fine when it's running on battery powe

It sounds as if you need a new charger. Try removing the battery and start the machine with just the charger. If that works then it may be a new battery you need. Some toshiba notebooks have a 'power saver tool' preinstalled, which is used to monitor battery performance. You can download a copy here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
Not sure if it will be compatible with your machine, but maybe worth a try as it could be a corrupt program causing the problem.

I have a older toshiba laptop and i think it has a bad battery will this cause poor performance even when plugged in to ac power

The purpose of the battery is to have a backup when there is a power failure. Try unplug the battery and just use only your AC power adapter. If it is working then don't use your battery anymore. It will not affect with the performance of your computer. Good Day.

Toshiba Satellite L300 shuts down when ac power plugged in

How about this step, try to turn off the laptop itself. Remove the cables and battery just like what you did before, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the computer itself. If the laptop restarts, shuts down or freezes with the AC power cables, two things that you should seriously consider. It might be the power cable itself, AC cable port or the circuitry going to the motherboard. And since you have cleaned out the fan and heat sink, you have isolated that problem. Have you plug-in another power cable on your laptop? If yes, then check if it works. Otherwise, the main issue is that the AC port is loose or the circuitry of AC adapter going to the motherboard is not not working. You can re-open the unit and check the circuitry from the AC port going to the motherboard. You may check the circuitry from AC port to the power supply if it is ok. If symptom persist, please contact your local dealer...

Toshiba satellite laptop will not power on if you plug in the power cord.even you take off the battery. but it will turn on if on battery power. if its runnung already it freezes if you plug in the power...

I would suspect that either your power cord or power adapter is defective.
Try testing using a new power cord/adapter & see if this fixes the problem.

Another possibility might be a loose or defective power connector in the laptop. Check the connector where you plug the power cord. It might need to be re-soldered or replaced.

There's not much you can do. The problem is definately with your motherboard. I'd recommend a bios update, but normally you can ONLY run a bios update if the battery and the ac are both plugged in.

This problem is pretty common among Toshiba's A105 and P105 models.

Besides replacing the motherboard there's not much you can do.

Sorry.
