Unpluged my computer to get repaired, have 3 different speaker type plug ins the back, don't remember which one to use. Their color coded, blue-green- pink

In many cards, the microphone connector will be pink, the speakers or line out or headphone will be lime green, and the stereo line in will be light blue. Additional jacks may be present on newer soundcards for rear and mid surround speakers.

This is a widely accepted color standard for computer sound card input and output jacks, but connector colors may vary between different brands. If you think you have a nonstandard card, consult your soundcard's manual or the manufacturer's web site before making any connections.

Head phones will not work

Check you have Audio driver installed in yout Notebook and make sure your windows audio service is running by typing "services.msc in run prompt.
If all is in place.goto control panel and double click "Sound" and click "Recording" and check "Microphone" and "Line In",it should not display "Not plugged in".If that's the case, replace your microphone.

Again click "Playback" after plugging the speakers
it should not display "Not plugged in".If that's the case, replace your microphone.

Note :Sound card color code:
  Color Connector
Lime Green Line-Out, Front Speakers, Headphones
  Pink Microphone
  Light Blue Stereo Line In
  Orange Subwoofer and Center out
Black Rear Surround Speakers for 5.1 and 7.1 systems
Gray Middle Surround Speakers for 7.1 systems

What is the green plug at the back of the monitor that connects to the green plug between the pink and blue port at the back of the tower panel on a Compaq Presario is it the sound?

the pink is for a microphone and the blue is for a "line in" (much like a microphone). the Green plug is for your speakers. your monitor would only have this plug if it has built on speakers.
