When trying to embroider I keep getting a Lower the Presser foot message when it is already lowered!!

You don't state the brand/model of your machine. If it is computerized model, the machine is not recognizing the presser foot's position. If there is a glass eye on the foot, make sure it is clean of any dust, lint, or fingerprints.

Message says to lower pressure foot but it is already down

There is a little switch up behind the tension unit....when you lower the presser foot a lever moves, one side closes the tension discs, the back closes the microswitch. Your switch is either not engaged because the tension unit was not re-installed correctly of the switch has been blocked by something. I have never had a switch fail.

I have error C7 on singer one plus and it wont sew at all?

I was getting a C7 error on my Singer Heritage sewing machine every time I pushed the pressure foot. I decided to see if the reverse sewing button would work and it did. Then I pushed the pressure foot to sew again and it worked. Hope this helps someone else.

try lowering the pressure foot and the needle and then raise them
again and then restart the machine, and if that doen't clear the
error message then it's time to service the machine.

Toyota sp100 sewing machine - can't lower foot pressure on clothing

Berend: Thick fabrics require a longer stitch length. If the longer stitch length doesn't work check your attachments for an Easy Feed foot (It sort of mimics a walking foot.)

What is pressure foot on sewing machine. where is pressure foot

This is the foot that comes down and holds the fabric layers under the needle.

There will be a pressure foot lever to raise and lower the pressure foot at the back of the sewing area, it usually operates vertically, although some makes have a lever that works horizontally.

The pressure foot needs to be lowered BEFORE you start stitching as it activates the top tension and also helps with the stitch formation by holding the fabric firmly as the needle moves up and down.

You can read some general sewing machine info at www.sewing.about.com too.

I place the fabric on the machine, lower the foot and apply pressure to the foot peddle, when the machine begins to sew fabric is pulled down and the lower thread tangles, the machine make a crunching...

This is easily solved. Before you start sewing make sure your upper and lower threads are long enough for you to hold before lowering the presser foot. If these threads are too short they both get carried down into the bobbin along with the fabric and cause a big tangled mess. Always hold your threads at the back of your work with your left hand then lower your pressure foot and don't release the threads untill you have taken several stitches. Keep holding these threads during backstitching at the beggining of a seam too. Works like magic.

Error message

Try unplugging the power from the machine for a few minutes and let the computer reset itself. While you have the machine unplugged from the electrical current try putting a few drops of oil on the lever that lowers the pressure foot. Then work the lever up and down a few times and reconnect the power.

"Lower presser foot" error on SE 270D

This happened to me and I eventually realized that there is a small door flap at the top near the "4" in the threading series that can get stuck open. Normally this flap goes up and down with the presser foot, but if it gets stuck open even when the presser foot is down, tapping it or closing it manually will make the error go away.1_9_2012_12_19_55_am.jpg
