When I press the bake button f 30 comes up and can't adjust oven temperature

Hello Access;

My name is peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You have not provided the model number which is located on a metal plate on the face of the oven when you open the door. So, I can only be general.

1.) Before you will proceed with any tests, disconnect power for at least a minute. If fault returns when power is reconnected, continue the troubleshooting. If the oven problem is intermittent you must do tests when the oven is malfunctioning.

2.) Actually there are only two major parts which, if anyone of them failed, could cause most of error codes. These parts are: Electronic Oven Control (EOC) and oven temperature sensor. Frigidaire used the name RTD sensor or RTD probe, where RTD means "Resistance Temperature Detector" instead of oven temperature sensor.

3.) If the error code shown on your oven display leads to a possible problem with oven temperature sensor, start the troubleshooting from testing the temperature sensor resistance. This part is usually located on the back wall in the upper part of the oven cavity but it can be easy tested from the EOC. Locate the two pins in the plug at the EOC that are connected to the sensor. Measure the resistance between the wires connected to these pins. The normal reading at the room temperature is supposed to be about 1100 Ohms.

4.) If the reading is incorrect, remove the sensor from the oven and check its resistance at the sensor. If the reading at the sensor is the same as reading at the EOC plug, the sensor is defective. If the reading at the sensor is correct, the wiring between the sensor and the control is defective.

I have an F2 error what does that mean

HI. this code is indicating that the oven temp sensor is malfunctioning. follow the steps below to address this issue further.

1. Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If the relay contacts are welded, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

2. For SELF CLEAN models: check door lock operation.

3. Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature.

The most common oven sensor should be approximately, 1100 ohms when at room temperature. The others may be close to as follows:

100°F - 1143 ohms
200°F - 1350 ohms
300°F - 1553 ohms
350°F - 1654 ohms
400°F - 1753 ohms
500°F - 1949 ohms

THE OVEN TEMPRATURE IS NOT CONSISTENT.IT KEEPS BURNING FOOD.

Usually this is due to a bad temperature sensor. Sometimes it's due to a control board malfunction.

If you can get an accurate measurement of the oven temperature (which is not as easy as it sounds) you can do some diagnosis from the outside:

You need an accurate thermometer or thermocouple into a DVM. Make sure there are no obstructions in the oven (baking sheets, etc). Make sure you are measuring the temperature in the center of the oven cavity.

1. If the average measured oven temperature agrees with the display, the sensor is probably ok. The controller cycles the element on and off, at a rate that results in a correct average temperature. So you have to record the thermometer reading min and max over several cycles.

2. If the sensor seems ok from #1, it can be verified by disconnecting it and measuring its resistance. Should be 1080 ohms at 70F.

3. If the sensor seems ok, but the oven temperature is erratic, then it's probably a control board issue. We repair these at www.fixyourboard.com

HI, this code is signaling that your temperature sensor is malfunction. it will result in major damage to the control board and sensor wiring harness if it is not corrected soon. the will allow for high temps during the cleaning process that will ruin the ovens control circuit board.

replace the oven temp sensor soon.

F3 error in roper model B9757XO

Hi. This F-3 code is representing a malfunction within the oven temperature sensor. It is open at the moment and unable to transfer data at this time.

You can test by Measuring the oven temperature sensor resistance, should be1100 ohms. If not, replace sensor.
