It works fine, but some times it squeals when I start it. Some times it lasts the whole cycle. Is it the belt? Where do I get one?

You need to replace the belt.
Once a belt gets glazed it will slip no matter how tight it is.

Have you checked the belt for cracks? Also, you never want to use the spray on the belt. If the belt is new, then you want to check the pulleys for dirt or old rubber that melted to the pulley. A good way to clean the pulleys is to remove the belt and use soapy water and a tooth brush and clean each pulley. If you are having a hard time getting all the junk off, you could try using a pick or a screwdriver and CAREFULLY pressing it against each pulley until they are clean. If that doesn't work then you could either have a misalignment of pulleys, wrong belt, or possibly fluids leaking on belt.

Squeals during the washers spinning cycle

What model is it? The answer is probably both. Every machine I've worked on has a motor with a belt that drives a pulley that turns the tub held in place by bearings. Your squeal could certainly be caused by a bad belt. If the belt looks bad change it. If it looks okay, try a squirt of belt dressing, if the squeal disappears change the belt. If it is a front loader open the loading door, put one hand just inside the tub at the top (like a waiter carring a tray shoulder high with one hand) and LIGHTLY push upwards then drop your hand a little then push upwards etc., etc. If the whole tub moves solidly you are okay, but if you feel a wiggle or a slight space in the jump (man this is harder to explain than i thought it would be) then your bearings may need attention. I doubt it is your bearings causing the squeal though. Does it squeal through entire spin cycle, or just at the beginning?

Serpentine belt squealing

Either the belt has stretched, or the tensioner is not keeping it tight.
Or it has oil on it.

I hear a whistling/squealing noise when I start my vehicle in the morning. It only lasts for about 10 minutes as I drive the vehicle. What can this be?

will try to help.you may have a bad serpentine belt, when's the last time you've replaced? or could be a bad engine component. altenator,[starting problem, dragging when trying to start] [grinding when turning the steering wheel] overheating.maybe a bad water pump]bad tensioner pulley which maintains constant tension on the whole belt that drives everything? look under the hood with engine running in park and emergency brake on.; do you see the main belt wobbly? if so what pulley? if you don't know, take to a parts store and ask. you have a belt squeal 1st thing when you start engine? my first diagnosis, bad belt, the rest is diagnosing further issues.thank you for choosing fixya.com

Simpson Encore 605 - belt sometimes squeals during spin .What maintenance should I do? Spins fine - just squeals from time to time.

Many washers squeal when spin starts. A new belt usually solves it. A bit of belt dressing for car fan belts works wonders. **unplug it while you apply belt dressing!
There is usually a tension adjustment by moving the motor mount back a small amount. Don't over do the tension.

You didn't mention the alternator, power steering pump, or water pump. In fact, any pulley other than the crankshaft one can have a bad bearing or dry seal. Remove the belt and spin each pulley while listening for any rough noise or squeal. If it was the crankshaft, it might be time to check the oil. Start the engine with the belt off to see if it does squeal. Make sure the noise isn't coming from the radiator fan(s).

I need to adjust my fan belts on a Nissan 1991 300ZX Turbo.

Try spraying one item at a time with WD-40 or belt dressing. Try not to worry about doing the belt first and save it for last. Most causes of squeals are galzed belts from being too tight or the pulleys of whatever item, the bearings are going out or were improperly lubed.

This is the cheapest method to truoble shoot the annyoing noises.

Hope this helps!

Kenmore 400 dryer squealing noise

A little lubricant on the pulleys near the belts will go along way. Its vereasy to access these parts front the back of the machine with a 1/4 hex head screwdriver.
