Question about LG DLE2532W Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Problem with LG electric dryer DLE2532W, approx 10yrs old.

For a while, sometimes instead of starting, the dryer will make a humming sound like it's trying to start. Sometimes it would catch on its own, but now it needs me to rotate the drum to the right in order to start every time. I read one solution for a different model that suggested the motor capacitor, but I can't find that part on the parts list in the repair manual. What needs replacing? The belt seems fine, and all lint has been cleaned from ducts, lint trap and front cover of unit. I am a novice, should I just call the repair service?

When you turn it yourself is it real stiff and hard to turn? It should not be. You might need a wheel or maybe a glide. I have the manual

It is stiff and hard to turn. I didn't see any cracks. Is the glide or wheel a relatively easy fix? Do I need to get into it from the back to check these things? I found the service manual online.

You gotta take the top off first the open the ddor and remove 2 screws remove some screws up top holding the fron panel on the unplug the door switch, then you can inspect the parts the drum rides on and the wheels.

SOURCE: The Drum on my LG DLE2512W Dryer will not turn

no problem with motor or control board. fault is with the motor capacitor only. this is often attached to the motor or near it. the value of the capacitor will be printed on it (usually about 8uf) and you should be able to source from an electrical spares shop

Bad vibrations

you will need to remove the top panel and look at the belt and tensioner pulley.

when the bearing in this pulley dries up it will make this horrible sound and also stretches the belt too

Removing LG dryer top plate

If your going to do this..... UNPLUG THE UNIT FIRST OR TURN OFF THE POWER.
You can use a 1" paint scraper, it will do the trick, but get one that is strong.
Why is your thermostat blowing though? Do you have a venting problem that may be causing it?
