Battery acid in battery compartment no power - Bose Radio Communications

Found the tip to try cleaning contacts with cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol on the Bose website. To my amazement, this actually worked. Didn't have methanol, but ethanol (cheap vodka) did the trick.

How do I install a new battery? The manual doesn' t cover this.

Many garden tractors have the battery located under the seat. Move the tractor to an area you can work easily in and shut off the ignition.

1 Access the battery / compartment.
2 Identify the (-) Negative and (+) terminals on the battery.
3 Note orientation of the battery (-) or (+) as it is installed in the tractor.
4 Place a piece of tape on the (-) battery cable's insulation and another near the (-) battery terminal.
5 Photograph the battery with cell phone, etc.
6 Remove any clamps or brackets if they will be in the way of removing cables.
7 Remove the (-) cable from the battery terminal first by loosening the bolt or screw with required wrench, battery pliers, screwdriver, etc. by lifting it up / sliding out of the terminal.
8 Remove the (+) cable from the battery terminal last by loosening the bolt or screw with required wrench, battery pliers, screwdriver, etc. by lifting it up / sliding out of the terminal.
9 Remove any clamps or brackets if not already done previously.
10 Lift the battery out of the compartment straight up without tilting to prevent spilling acid from the battery.
11 If acid is not already in new battery: place new battery on several layers thick of newspaper and
a add battery acid to new battery as per instructions included with the battery.
b Place caps on battery when filled.
12 Identify the (-) Negative and (+) terminals on the new battery.
13 Place a piece of tape near the new battery's (-) terminal.
Place battery into compartment so that it is in the same relative orientation as step #3 above. This will ensure both cables will reach the correct terminal on the battery.
13 Check installed battery to photo to be sure it is oriented correctly.
14 Install any clamps or brackets if they will not be in the way of installing cables.
15 Connect the (+) cable [no tape] to the (+) battery terminal [no tape].
16 Double check that the (+) connection is correct and tight.
17 Connect the (-) cable [with tape] to the (-) battery terminal [with tape].
18 Double check that the (+) connection is correct and tight.
19 Install any clamps or brackets if not previously done in step #14 above.
20 Dispose of newspaper, acid container, etc in trash.
21 Recycle old battery where new battery was purchased / collect deposit.
Done!

Roland street cube won't power on due to battery acid leak

Most likely the acid ate the internal power supply, but if you can dis-assemble it and clean any trace of gunk with a toothbrush and electronic cleaner, including the fuse and it's contacts, maybe you'll get lucky.

Open battery compartment

Spray WD-40 around the compartment door and try to let it trickle inside the compartment. That should break the acid corrosion buildup that holds the door from opening.

Batteries carroded . It will not respond .

Read this article about how to remove corrosion from battery compartments: http://www.ehow.com/how_5386483_remove-battery-corrosion.html If you are able to remove all of the corrosion, you might be able to insert new batteries and get the toy working again but it can be very challenging to find and remove all of the corrosive acid so if the new batteries don't work, you'd have to take the toy apart, and possibly replace the contacts in the battery compartment.

How to replace the battery in a 2005 cadillac deville.

The battery is located under the rear seat on the passenger side. The replacement battery is a little more costly given the fact that it has the need for venting sulfuric acid fumes. If you remove the old battery and do not place a temporary power supply on the systems computer, you will possibly cause may things to go wrong. The temporary power supply insert is on the drivers side directly under the steering wheel. You will need the adapter plug. Your best bet is to go to advance, autozone, walmart, etc., and plead with the manager to allow free installation of battery you intend to purchase. Show them how clean the underside of you back seat is and there is no battery leakage. Liability keeps many shops from installing back seat battery compartments due to acid, leather, etc. I talked a kid into it at advance for 5 bucks. Otherwise, professional dealer or shop installation will cost you more on top of the already overpriced $170.00 battery. Back seat removal is easy. Pull front of back seat straight up on both sides releasing tabs, then lift it and slide rear of seat up and out. Installation is the same in reverse.

My SUKAM Shiny 400va sinewave home ups is powerd half when utility power off. overload light glowing. But this ups running perfectly at the same load before.

There might be a problem in the battery acid concentration. Take the battery to a battery recharging shop. The specific gravity of the battery has to be 1.22-1.25 for a fully charged battery.(if your battery is lead acid type) Handling lead acid battery(or any other battery) without proper knowledge and supervision is very dangerous.Be cautious.

Have 1995 volvo 850 glt wagon. replaced battery . It is now leaking battery acid after running car for short distance. It keeps blowing headlights and tail lights. could this be a bad alternator that is...

Sounds like you have a dangerous situation here. One way for a battery to squirt out acid is if the vehicles alternator is overcharging . Should be charging below 14.5 volts. You can use a multi meter to check this yourself . Just start the engine and connect the meter to the two terminals on the battery. There are some local garages that may offer to do this check for you as a courtesy. The other way for this to happen is, if there is a crack in the battery . Look around the battery to see if it is installed properly with restraints and nothing jabbing into it. You may see crack around the positive and negative posts caused sometimes by over tightening of the clamp bolts. In either case this in nothing to fool around with. I recommend (with your hands in protective gloves) removing the battery. Clean the engine compartment . And installing a new battery making sure the factory restraints are used. Battery acid is dangerous and poisonous( Do not take this lightly ). You will need to neutralize any acid that has sprayed onto you engine components or the acid will ruin them permanently. I am sure you are capable enough to do this but It is always best to let a professional do dangerous things like this to insure the proper precautions are taken.

Just wont turn on.

I imagine the acid has fairly gunked up the compartment, preventing new batteries making a connection- you should be able to see this with just by looking.
What you will need to do now is clean it up, I'd suggest a cotton bud with some baking soda and water- this doesnt have to be completely dripping - just slightly moist (you dont want water inside your camera). This may take awhile to do and will be fiddly, if you think its clean leave it to dry to get rid of any moiusture that may be then the try your new batteries.
If the camera still does not work, there may still be some crust left- if you cant see anymore spill and your sure you've cleaned it all your problem may be a bit more serious- acid may have gotten into the camera. If thats the case it may be advisable to get a new camera as that can be fairly costly to repair- especially with older cameras.
In future if you arent using the camera, esspecially for long periods, take the batteries out- that wont stop the problem ever happening again, but certainely cuts down on it.
Best of luck
