I have a 9610 thermostat turns on and off to frequently


I am guessing but the thermostat is either faulty or is in conflict with another thermostatic device in the system. The room thermostat measures the air temperature in the room but with a modern intelligent boiler there will be other sensors measuring all sorts of things including the water temperature.

Personally I prefer to have thermostatic radiator valves rather than a room or zone thermostat.

Honeywell HZ-338 thermostat problem


See if there is a little brass-looking bulb on a wire (sensing bulb) inside that can be moved away from the heat. My other thought would be maybe there is supposed to be some insulation between the control unit and the heating element that was inadvertently discarded?

The dryer lights, heats up for a few minutes then the heat shuts off


your limit thermostat is going out heres how to check them

The wires leading to the thermostat are connected using metal slip on connectors. Remove the wires by pulling on the connectors, and not the wires themselves. It may be a good idea to use a pair of needle nosed pliers to help you.

Set your multimeter to the R X 1 setting. Take each of your meter's probes and touch one to each terminal. You are testing for continuity, and you should receive a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero. But if a thermostat is tested when it is heated to its limit, a reading of infinity should be produced. I strongly recommend that you test your thermostat at room temperature.

check the thermostats ,, you have a high limit thermostat thats probably on its way out , heres how to check them

That sounds quite plausible...and pretty good idea.

If I'm right it sounds like you simply would like to add a glorified "extension cord" to the on-board controls and thermostat to make them usable from a remote location. That could work, can't see why not. It definitely would make for a more accurate temperature reading rather than having the temperature element collecting from a mere few inches of the units' output vents.

If running it more than 30 ft cord length though, you may need to go up in wire gauge or double up on what you have if you don't have larger than about 12-10 gauge.

The only other consideration I can think of is that after you dismantle the control and temperature assembly, that when you reinstall it elsewhere that the temperature element should be oriented in the same position as it was when mounted inside the A/C chassis, i.e.; not tipped or otherwise moved from a horizontal or vertical position.

How do i test my room thermostat


Hello,
To check your thermostat you need to advance the temperature towards the setpoint slowly. You also need an acurate thermometer to see if the thermostat will turn the heat or A/C on when the setpoint is reached. Also check the make sure that the temperature on the thermostat is close to the reading on your thermostat.

No Heat


HI. There are a few areas i would advise to check to resolve this issue.

The dryer uses multiple thermostats to regulate the temperature. When the temperature is higher than the preset limit of a particular thermostat, the thermostat breaks the circuit and the heater goes off. When the temperature cools enough, the thermostat closes the circuit again and the heat can come on.



Most dryers have a choice of temperature settings, therefore a separate thermostat is used for each setting. The selector switch or timer control then routes the circuit through the appropriate thermostat.

If a thermostat fails, it may prevent the heat from coming on, This happens because the thermostat does not close the circuit when the temperature falls below the operating temperature of the switch. It is a simple matter to test a thermostat; it should show continuity when the switch is cool and no continuity when it is warmer than its rated temperature.

A thermostat can also fail by being always on, no matter what the temperature. This switch would show continuity whether it was hot or cold. In this case, the heater would not shut off and the the dryer could dangerously overheat. As a safety precaution a second thermostat is used, This is called a thermal fuse. The power will be cut to the heating circuit if the maximum safe temperature is exceeded. In most cases, this is a one time fuse. The heater circuit will not function until the fuse has been replaced. Of course, it will be necessary to determine and repair the underlying cause of overheating or the fuse will just cut out again.

The thermostats are usually grouped together. The are typically oval in shape and about an inch and a half in size. They may be on the blower housing, under the lint trap or inside the vent line. There should be two wires connected to each thermostat.

Label the wires and connections so that you can properly reconnect them later. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals. You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced.

To test the thermostats or fuse, set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. You should get a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, the thermostats should have a reading of zero. When the thermostats are heated to their limit temperature, they should switch off and you should get a reading of infinity. The fuse should be tested at room temperature for continuity.

NOTE(If the Thermostats and fuse check out ok, replace the element. Element failure is uncommon but, it may fail in certain cases))

Honeywell Thermostat RTH7400D


The thermostat will not cut off the A/C until the thermometer reading gets to 76.

If there is not a heat source near/behind the thermostat which is causing the thermometer to read higher than actual room temperature, it sounds like the thermostat thermometer is out of calibration.

There are ways to calibrate it, but much to involved to go into here.

One solution is to just set the thermostat at 80, knowing that it's really set on 76.

Another solution is to replace the thermostat.
