My stanley tre500 shoots like a semi automatic weapon. Is it adjustable? Thanks Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Do you mean it rapid fires, or do you mean fires the staples to deep?
If it fires too deep, the adjustment for that is on the back of the gun. The + and - give more/less depth. Adjust it towards the - direction to get the brad/staple to no penetrate as far.

Thanks,

Handie Andie

Stanley light duty staple gun loads and shoots but staples not coming out. nothing jammed as far as I can see. Should I open it up and have a look at the interior? Thank you Denise

It sounds to me like you must have a staple that has seperated and probablygot stuck in staple feed shute' I wouold carefuflly remove side plate and see if there is a staple in there crooked or if their is is small metal chip left over from manufacture.I hope this helps you.THANK.

My gun will not shoot staples after loaded I thin there is a part missing

Staple gun are simple device and the 'shooting' mechanism is just a sring loaded bar that hammers the staple out: the problem is usually a jam/stuck staple where the staple in the orifice where the staple comes out. Just use a small screwdriver and /or plier to remove the stuck staple which could be jammed against the hammer bar. You may need to force the hammer bar backwards with the help of your small flat head screwdriver.

Hope it helps!

How do you adjust the staple size to load 1/2" or 1/4" staples?

Staple guns can use a variety of staples; the width of the staple is fixed, the lengths vary from 1/4" up (usually in 1/8" increments). You don't need to adjust the staple gun for the different lengths, just be sure the width fits your gun since some manufacturers have used brand-specific staples.

There are also a variety of staple types; there are staples for ceiling tile, electric wire, window screening, etc. My favorite staples for wood have the tips cut on a sharp angle, they penetrate wood well. Some staple types require a particular gun, I have a gun that shoots only round-top staples for small cables like phone & thermostat wire.

Will only shoot one brad and then stops

its problem is too much oil or not enough. never the less, it needs taken apart and cleaned and inspected. make sure you are shooting the right guage and brand hardware. generic doesnt always work.
