Question about Panasonic NN-S963BF Microwave Oven
Without setting cook power and time our microwave begins operating when the door is opened and stops operating when the door is closed. Seems to heat food fine and not sure if it's cooking when door is opened. Light comes on, tun table rotates and oven makes same sound when it's actually cooking. Any ideas how to fix. We've had this for 10 years without any problems.
The door switch is bad. https://www.partstore.com/Model/Matsushita/Panasonic/NNS963BF.aspx
This site has the most parts. See if there is a contact list so that you can ask about the switch. I dont see it listed as a stand alone item.

Sounds like a short in the microwave circuit. One or more of the following four components has failed -
Repair is not for the amateur, unless you know how to take things apart, and put them back together EXACTLY as the were found.
Parts are available on the Net, and you can get the P/N's off the old components to identify suppliers of the new ones.
Don't try and measure resistance of the diode. It's impedance is far too high to get a good reading. They're cheap anyway. Always replace the capacitor, they're cheap too. No way to test the magnetron, and the transformer is not easy to test either.

The turntable system
consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers,
and the tray.
You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.
If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.
To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.
You can order parts for this brand from Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.
