When you connect the data projector to the laptop, power up the projector then the laptop. The laptop will automatically switch the video to the projector.
If you power up the laptop first the you need to switch the video output to the external video port by press and hold the Fn key and then press one of the functions keys that has a screen symbole on it, by repeating this again you can toggle between the projector and the LCD screen, even having the both displayed at the same time.
If you still have a problem, then the screen resolution is set too high and the video won't display on the projector, reduce the screen resolution to 1024x768 to see if it works, if not you may need to reduce it further.

Make sure you have all drivers and software necessary for the projector installed on your laptop. You can find them on viewsonic's website. Also go to Control Panel>Display>Connect to a Projector and insure all settings are correct. Let me know if you run into problems.

How to connect the acer aspire one to an epson projector

The Aspire One has an external VGA port so you will use that and a VGA cable to connect to the projector. You may have to press the Display mode button (typically Fn+one of the function keys with the rectangle 'display' on it) to enable the external VGA port.

I can not get our Epson projector to recognise my Acer laptop I have tried keying in Fn F5 but this has not worked

Try connecting another monitor to the computer to verify the external VGA connector is working correctly. Once you know the external VGA port is displaying an image, connect the projector and make sure to set it for the proper input. If there is still a problem, you might have a bad connecting cable or the projector needs service.

Missing program

PC CRT (VGA Port) rely on graphics drivers to see projectors. Windows installs generic drivers that should work. Right click "my computer" click manage, go to devices, uninstall VGA adapter driver, reboot. Let system install windows drivers. There should be a FN+F# sequence to redirect or mirror your display on the projector.

No LCD connectivity

Hello, I am using a Viewsonic lcd projector with my new Acer Aspire One. I did not have connectivity off the bat. Here's what I did: 1. Downloaded driver (unsigned, not the signed version worked - ie not os-specific) for the lcd projector to the Acer. Restart Acer. 2. With lcd projector connected to Acer, toggle function key & F5. But then, continue holding down the function key. A screen pops up with icons for laptop, laptop/monitor, dual monitor, and lcd projector. You continue to hold down the function key and then press the F5 key to move to the desired device. I had to repeat the same process to restore my Acer screen to the original proportion when not using lcd projector. I'm not sure if both steps 1 and 2 are necessary, but I did it simultaneously, so I'm not sure of the origin of success.
