SOURCE: LAst night we lost two rooms completely light and

1) A circuit breaker will not reset if breaker is hot, or if there is a short to ground.

2) Hot breaker: If circuit is pulling more amps than the breaker rating, or if breaker is loose on the busbar, then breaker gets hot, and trips.
3) Volts x amps = watts. Add up wattage of everything on breaker and divide by 120Volts and that gives you amps.
If your breaker is 15 amps, the SAFE maximum is 80% or 12 amps.

4) If breaker is loose, you can smell burning and hear crackling sound. Jiggle the breaker around and listen for crackling.

5) If there was a short somewhere on the breaker circuit, the breaker will trip.
When you unpluged each device and then the breaker was reset, then that says problem is probably NOT the wiring or breaker.
The problem was probably inside one of the devices that was plugged in.

6) If breaker trips again, unplug each device one at a time, and then try to reset breaker after each unplug to see if you can isolate suspected device.

Answer not provided. Please read my question.

is it 110 or 220? if it is a 110 first check your breaker/ fuse panel for tripped breaker or blown fuse if 220 it would be a double breaker. if you find tripped breaker remember some panels require you to turn the breaker fully off then back on to reset. if 110 and no blown breakers, check your laundry room for a GFI (ground fault interrupt) outlet. make sure that it is not tripped either. to reset that just push the reset button on the outlet. best of luck to you

How do I locate circuit breaker for kitchen power outlets

All houses have a fuze or breaker box. Check basement, closets, or utility room. Usually have a grey metal door. Find it and check if breaker is tripped or fuze is blown. If not the case there may be a GFCI outlet that is feeding those outlets that needs to be reset. They are usually a square outlet some have a light on them but all should have a reset button. If you find one to be tripped press the rest button in the middle of the outlet and you should be good to go.

No power to two outlets other two work in the room on the same grid circuit box isn't tripping

There is a possibility that the two outlets that are not working are on the lower end of that particular circuit. If that is the case, there is also a big possibility that the connections on one of the working outlets is not transferring the current to the other two that are not working. Suggest you verify that the the connections feeding current on down the circuit line are tight and well connected. Hope this works. For safety sake, ensure that the breaker for that circuit is turned off before you start fiddeling arown with the connections. Good Luck.

I am hoping someone can answer this question to avoid my spending a bundle of cash. One night the power outlets in my room all ceased to work. I did not hear any pop or smell anything burning. ...

Did you check to make sure that you have power on the OUTPUT of the breaker in question? If you are sure you do, then the general rule of thumb is to find the LAST place you have power and that is where the problem is!

Having a wire melt is very uncommon, especially if the circuit breaker did not trip - UNLESS you have aluminum wiring. So if your house way built in the the Vietnam era, that could be a concern. Most likely it is at your last outlet that HAS power, either a loose wire or bad outlet.

Can you check and see if there is a GFIC in line somewhere tripped.
It sounds like a ground fault receptacle has tripped somewhere in the circuit.

I would check the cord or the plug before anything else. Plug another appliance into the outlet if it works try bending the male plugs on the cord slightly and try again. If this doesnt work call the man.
