Question about Maytag Washing Machines
Had this replaced 5/2012 and now, with the top cover of machine slid to right side, I ill button ON and can see the water is spying and leakingg through top left seam(top of lid and left side of machine)and down left wall onto floor, dripping down through floor to basement! Is it clogged or mal-aligned!?

There should be 2 screws holding it on at the rear. Looking from the rear these will be at each top corner. Once these are removed push the lid from the front of the machine towards the rear and it will pop off.

The whole cabinet comes off on this washer. Too remove you need to remove 2 screws in console. These may be in back on the right and left ends of console or may be in front on each end. If you can-not find them they might be hidden under plastic end trim. They are located in front of console on both ends. To remove pry them up from the inner lower edge and peel towards outside of washer. Then remove screws and shake console back and forth while pulling up. Console will hinge back.
Remove to gold colored clips with screwdriver prying at front. Make note of the position of these clips. Unplug lid switch harness and pivot cabinet back and off. The usual spot for a leak is the pump. Check for stain coming from area on pump where motor shaft enters. The pump can be removed by taking off the 2 clips. Also check small diameter hose that enters side of wash tub in back side. Make sure this is attached to tub.

SOURCE: cabrio drains water onto floor.
I took the back cover off of the machine and found that the drain pump had a hole in it. The hole was caused by a coin that had made it's way down to the drain pump. The replacement pump cost $90.00 and was very easy to put in. If you google the words cabrio tear down you will come across a web site that has a video that shows you how to take the pump out. I have not had any leaks since. Keep the coins out of the washer, remeber to check your pockets to avoid paying out cash.

You have a problem with the pressure switch cutting in too early before all of the water has drained away from the outer drum
There is either an obstruction in the outlet pipe or pump which is not allowing the water to discharge fast enough.
The machine is then spinning with too much water left in the outer drum added to the water which is being expelled from the clothes equals leaking
Take the hose off the back of the machine and put it in a sink , make sure it is secure and do a rinse cycle
Watch the outlet and make sure it is a strong flow if it is weak then you have probably got an item of clothing stuck in the pipe from the drum to the pump and a strip down is required
One more thing there is a small plastic bottle attached to the back of the outer drum this has tube which leads to the pressure switch
Make sure there is no congealed soap in the Air Bell as it is called

I have a Kenmore R80 washing machine and it has worked well for years. Last time I used it it smelled like burning rubber. I have not used it since. Is it worth trying to get repaired or is it probably a bearing? It is not frozen

You will need to lift the top cover from the front of the washer and lift it back on the hinges. Look where the water is injected into the tub you should see the water injection hose attached to the plastic injector with a hose clamp. Inspect the hose and injector for any leaks or if the plastic inlet is broken. The upper water injector is around $5.00 and is an easy fix. If the hose is cracked, a new hose is around $4.00. If you prefer you can replace the injector assembly for about $23.00.
