Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

GWL15 no hot water on Regular or Heavy Duty Cycles

My brand new GWL15 does not fill with hot water when I select hot water on Regular or Heavy Duty cycles. I get only cool water. If I select hot water on Perm Press cycle, though, I get hot water just fine. I verified that the hot water is on and the hoses are connected properly. I've read the manual 3 or 4 times, and can't find any explanation for not being able to get hot water on Regular or Heavy Duty cycles. Am I doing something wrong, or is the machine defective?

I get the same behavior. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I think there's a bug in their control panel though I don't know what the workaround is. This behavior is intermittent, as sometimes doing a regular load does yield the right tempurature water. IF someone has a solution, PLEASE post!!!

Same thing is happening on my 5-month old washer. In fact, I had not even thought to try another type of wash, as I wash nearly everything on regular; so I appreciated the ability to test ours and see if, in fact, the hot water would run on the perm press cycle, which it does.

That being said, I find this to be an odd thing with this washer, nothing in the manual to indicate this is normal, and I do not get how the "best solution" listed here is relevant. If I am supposed to have the ability to choose the water temperature, regardless of the wash setting, and I cannot, then the washer does not work properly.

I think I'm going to call F&P to see what they say.

Should you select a 40* wash it would not be right if the machine filled with hot water, as the water in the house tank is a lot more than 40* ( around 65* i think?) this would just damage the clothes and i am sure you would just complain again at that.

if the machine works fine then there is no problem

What does LF stand for on a Whirlpool Washing Machine?

LONG FILL....I usually means the faucets are not turned on fully OR you have a pinch in the hose and it is taking too long to fill (LONG FILL).

Is it possible to modify the water temps that are preset to the types of cycles? Casual is warm/cold and Heavy Duty is hot/cold. I would like to do cold/cold but it won't let me

You could connect cold to both hot and cold washer connections by using a hose wye fitting . If the hot and cold supply faucets both open together you will have to cap the hot faucet. Hope this helps.

When i put it on the heavy duty load the water doesn't come out

If everything works properly EXCEPT when on a specific cycle, you have a bad timer.
If it fills and empties properly on other cycles but fails when you select a specific setting, it's the switch that selects the setting; In most washers that would be the timer switches.

Washer does not allow hot water to enter machine when you press the heavy duty button. Regular warm cycle or hot works fine. Replaced the water valves, main control panel.

Hi,

This is a common question we face daily. Certain washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others allow hot and cold to enter intermittently. Consult your owner's manual to be absolutely sure about this. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:
Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.
Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.

FP Hot water used when cold selected

YOU NEED TO CHECK THE WATER TEMPERATURE AFTER THE TUB IS FILLED WITH WATER WHEN COLD IS SELECTED. NEW MACHINES WILL USE BOTH THE HOT AND COLD WATER VALVES TO FILL THE MACHINE. THEY DO NOT WANT YOU WASHING WITH STRICTLY COLD WATER AS THE DETERGENT WILL NOT PROPERLY DISOLVE. COLD WASH TEMP SHOULD AVERAGE 65-70 DEGREES.

Kenmore 90 Series only agitates on heavy-duty cycle

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Frigidaire FTF530F won't advance

Possibly the timer. next time it wont stop filling turn off the washer. if it still fills you have a water valve issue. Hope for the valve. Timers are big bucks.
