After replacing the needle in my singer 8280, the needle clamp is not holding the needle tight, the needle falls down even after tighening do i make the needle get fixed?

It sounds like you have lost the tread guide. When you press the clamp as far up as it will go, there should be a slot in the post underneath the clamp visible. You may need to use a mirror to see it. The thread guide snaps into that slot and keeps the clamp from falling down. Take it to any repair shop. It will not be expensive to repair.

First of all is the needle the correct needle for your machine. Some needles go "flat to back" while others are put in differently. Not all "Universal" needles are used in ALL machines. Please check your manual to see how to put your needle selection into the shaft.

Brother exedra f-40 industrial sewing machine won't sew!!!

Check that you have a new needle inseted all the way UP in the needle bar shaft threaded front to back, flat side at back of needle bar and make sure presser foot in the up position BEFORE threading to open up the tension discs fully. Make sure you leave enough thread tail to accommodate turning the handwheel toward you so that the thread isn't falling out of the needle. I would oil and lube it too when you get the chance. Here's a web site to help you with that and the timing, tension, cleaning the race shuttle bobbin area, etc. on your machine: I hope this helps, Rachel.Jimmy

My needle shaft stopped moving up and down while doing embroidery.

I've seen some of these machines where the pin that holds the needle bar in place falls out. If the take up lever is going up and down but the needle bar is not, this is probably the case. If the take up lever is not moving either, then you might have a broken timing belt or it has slipped off. You'll need a repair shop to fix it.

Needle is falling out. could the threads be gone in the little screw that holds it in place? was working fine till went to change broken needle yesterday. also seems like its hitting off the bobbin case...

Hi! Sewing machine needles have a flat side on the shaft. This flat side has to go in a specific direction, depending on your sewing machine. For example, on both my Kenmore and Brother machines, the flat side has to be at the back (facing away from me), but in my Singer Featherweight, the flat side goes to the left. Unless the flat side of the needle is in the correct place, the bobbin thread will not pick up and the needle may hit the bobbin case.

If you have the manual for your machine, check there to see how the needle should be inserted. If you don't, I suggest you try 'trial and error' to find where that flat side of the needle shaft goes.

Happy Sewing and let me know if this solves your problem!

Singer zig-zag 437

loosen the screw on the larger of the two feed gears (not bevel gears). Retigten so that the feed teeth start to rise right when the needle starts to rise and fall right when the needle starts to go into the fabric. Make the setting the same. i.e. when the feed teeth start to rise, how high is the needle (2mm, 3mm, etc.)? set the feed timing so the teeth rise and fall with the needle at the same height going in and coming out, this assures that the fabric only feeds when the needle is out of the fabric.
