Why is my skillsaw 5150 running in reverse?

Make sure the blade is mounted so that the teeth are cutting UP through the workpiece.

Change blade

What model of saw are you using? BE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE POWER CORD. There is usually a brake that you push in to lock the motor, it is usually located between the upper blade guard and the handle, on the motor. It should be spring loaded, push it in and hold it in the loosen the nut on the blade, counter clockwise CCW, righty tighty, lefty loosey.
If you still cannot find a brake, put a screwdriver into the curved part of a tooth behind the carbide tip and 90 degrees to the blade near the front of the lower blade guard. It should be below the main shoe (plate that the saw sits on while cutting). When you turn the nut CCW, the screwdriver will lock the blade against the main show and the blade nut may then be loosened and the motor shaft should not spin.
If all this fails, read the instructions and look there for a brake lock.

Bosch 4000 table saw motor does not turn, very stiff

Possibly something has jammed inside the motor housing although unlikely.
Electric brake seized perhaps?
Carbon brushes need replaced?

These saws (and the newer 4100) have a history of motor problems, with the field winding and electronic motor speed control being the most common points of failure. If you go to an online tool parts supplier like toolpartsdirect- Bosch 4000 saw you will see a list of the parts available, as well as the most commonly ordered parts.

I've borrowed a circular saw (v old B+D 1 HP model). Can't loosen spindle bolt to remove blade: the blade is locked with a pair of locking pliers against the guard, but when I turn the spindle bolt...

you just have to look for little button close to blade, smash it, hold it while you move the blabe till gets stuck then you're ready to loose the blade! hope this help

I have a makita backpack petrol strimmer fitted with a line head can i fit a brushcutter blade instead i donot have the full model No it is a 41cc engine it is an early model

Hi Doug,

There are adapters for just about every combination of trimmer, brush cutter blade, grass gator, etc. you can think of.

One of the most handy purchases has been a non specific arbor adapter set. Not only does it have 2or 3 each of the most common nuts in both left and right hand thread, it has inserts that keep every blade, flail and brushcutter I've tried dead center.

It even came with a diamond shaped one for a skillsaw blade that I tried with my Ryobi 4 cycle. That thing turns thorny blackberry vines to powder.

So the answer is yes.

Best regards

Can not remove the old blade

1. Unplug the saw.
2. Locate the blade lock button used to lock the motor shaft when changing a blade. For your saw, this button is usually located on the left side of the blade guard somewhere around the motor housing.
3. Push the button while rotating the blade until the button engages and the blade will no longer turn.
4. Use the wrench that came with the saw (or another wrench) to loosen and remove the blade bolt. For your saw the bolt should have standard right hand threads which means you loosen the bolt by turning it counter clock-wise.
5. Remove the old blade and replace it with a new blade of the same mounting type. Some blades have a round through hole and some blades have a diamond through hole.
6. Re-install the blade bolt and tighten clock-wise while holding the blade lock button down.

4. Use the wrench that came with the saw (or another wrench) to loosen and remove the blade bolt. For a worm drive saw with the blade to the left of the motor, the bolt should have left hand threads (non-standard) which means you loosen the bolt by turning it clock-wise.

Cant get blade off

I don't know which model you're using, but normally there's an arbor lock button on the motor side of the blade somewhere that allows you to lock that whole middle housing down so it won't turn. Look underneath the motor and see if you can't find some kind of lock botton or lever. That will make it easy to loosen the nut and tighten the blade down correctly.
Otherwise you're going to have to improvise some way to lock it in place enough to break that nut loose.
Reply with a model # and I can try to find a parts schematic to check for you...

How do you re-install the Skillsaw 5150 blade?

I,ve personally never heard of a problem quite like yours. I use skill saw brand saws every day and the arbor and washer will only make the blade wobble if installed incorrectly. Blades can be turned around to cut different types of material as well. Check to make sure the hole or diamond is the same on the new blade(you might have to punch it out) if its not seeding properly on the saw, you could also check under the guard to make sure nothing is binding the saw. The only other thing I could suggest would be to check the lock button (the one you hold to change blades, that stops the saw motor from turning) if that is stuck, your saw won't run. Good Luck!!
