Turn the hose backwards if you can and try to vacuum it out. I do that to fix central vacuum hoses.

The bottom of my rowenta focus has a burnt grainy film on it. How do I clean it and prevent it from happening again. I've only used it approx 4 times but it is over a year old.

Rowenta FOCUS STEAM IRON DZ5164 DZ5164U1 user manuals
will give their specific instructions.

Rowenta has a kit, including a paste cleaner for iron soleplates, available from Amazon.

Home made cleaners include a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Rub on, let sit, and wipe with a wet cloth. (Some add a drop or two of dawn dishwashing liquid)

Another home made cleaner is the Mr. Clean Magic eraser, thoroughly wet, and rubbed over the soleplate.

Make sure to wipe the soleplate with a clean wet cloth at the end to remove cleaning residue.

Clean your iron's soleplate while the iron is cold, and don't use something scratchy like a steel wool pad, to avoid scratching the surface.

Issues with Rowenta Steam Iron DG 05030 steam hose

Does your iron have a self cleaning feature? It sounds to me like you have calcium build up and when you squeeze the hose it displaces the "clog" just enough to allow steam through.

Sheathing on water cord has slipped down and now the cord is v hot

The best way to deal with it is to open the base of the cold iron which uses Security Torx fasteners (you can get bits at Harbor Freight). Be gentle, there are some hidden fasteners that are blocked by the power cord and such. Take careful drawings or better yet take a few digital pix so you can reassemble without any trouble, use masking tape and sharpie to label hoses. Use needle nose pliers to back off wire hose clamps, push the cloth braid back towards the tank end, and cut off 1" or so the hoses dressing them down evenly but still will reach the desired locations, put the strain relief holders and reassemble and your done. If you need part(s), listed below is the local service center

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is: http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/

Sticky surface

Make a paste of baking powder and water. Rub onto soleplate with a soft cloth. This will work, but not as well as cleaner.

You can find Rowenta kits or other brands of cleaner in the laundry or small appliance departments of stores that sell this type of product as well as fabric stores.

Rowenta Professional Iron - steam button suddenly stopped working

Have you tried descaling it? It may well be blocked up with limescale. Personally I only ever buy cheap irons and bin them when they go wrong! As you say-they are generally too expensive to repair.

Missing hose for cleaning

Hi,
In California, the name of the place is

California Electric Service
(925) 827-1011
1170-G Burnett Avenue
Concord, CA 94520

http://www.californiaelectricservice.com/

You were unclear if the faceplate is on the steam generator or the iron. Anyway the repair center for Rowenta above should help you. Be prepared to pay for shipping, get a firm estimate and insist on old parts be returned with the repaired unit. If it is the soleplate assy, it is around $75 or so.
