Hi Carl, I am guessing you are asking about the Dell Optiplex "GX"620. :-) Anyway, if you are using the all-in-one setup shown in this picture:
then unfortunately, with the small form factor case that is used with this particular version of the Optiplex GX620, the motherboard doesn't have any expansion ports to be able to install a PCIe card. Here is a picture of the small form factor case with the side panel off of it so you can see how little room is left in the case after all of the components are installed.
As I am not familiar with what you are trying to accomplish or why you need a firewire card installed, I can only make a small suggestion, such as looking for a firewire to USB adapter for whatever you are trying to connect to your computer. If you are able to expand on what you are trying to accomplish, or what kinds of problems you are having, I would happy to try to lend you my expertise. :-) I hope this helps.
You need a more larger power supply. The current one is a 145 watt u-ATX Form Factor; you need at least 250 watts in that form factor (size)
A better choice might be a new motherboard. Look for board with a AMD Socket 7 if you want to keep this CPU. The motherboard will need to match the size of the current one to reuse the case. It's a uATX "like" form factor (7.4" x 9.35"). Also plan on a new power supply any AGP or PCI-e video card will want more than 350 watts (for the low end cards). Getting a new computer might be worthwile.
The DDR1 is now Obsolete. I suggest you to purchase entire motherboard with processor, RAM and graphics card. As it is one time investment, try purchasing Quad-Core CPU's with atleast 4GB of RAM.
hmmmm... try to reinstall the OS again then install the driver of the motherboard... when the sound driver is installing a window will appear like new hardware found wizard just don't click it w8 until the driver will install.. ^^
You need to find a "PCI Express" video card. Your Motherboard does not have an AGP slot. There are lots of them to choose from. Better to pay more now and get more memory on the video card than to regret the purchase and buy another one. IMHO
Here is a link to a diagram of the Optiplex GX 270 system board: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx270/SM/EN/replbrd.htm You need a sound card that has a PCI interface. On a Small Form-Factor board it goes into slot 10. On a Small Desktop system board it would install into the “riser board” which in turn is installed into slot 10. On a Small Mini-Tower system board the sound card would be installed into any available slot marked as 11.

If you wish to upgrade your graphics card to a better one you will need to go out and purchase one. A good company is ATI they will have good gaming graphic cards. If you are still unsure about the graphics cards, or if this is not your problem you can e-mail me personaly at [email protected]
